You won't be disappointed. They're amazing in person (if you haven't already seen them). It's hard to get a true idea of what the colour is really like.
I think it also depends on what the op wants to do with the shoes. If they have no interest in keeping/wearing either pair, then yeah, 'market value' doesn't really matter. If they want one more than the other, then I would use those as a starting point for negotiations.
Assuming CBSA does their job correctly, you should only be saving the $12 brokerage fee. There's a lot of misinformation on here that you'll save tons by self clearing. In cases like that, it was the CBSA agent not doing their job correctly and miscalculating.
