Congrats man! I got my first full-time photography job last September, and like you I had minimal/beginner gear and had never used strobes in my life before my first day. I had no idea what I was doing but it also taught me to learn quickly and improvise when needed. I've easily grown more as a...

Shot Mickey Avalon at Ace of Spades in Sacramento on Friday. Some friends hooked it up with a stage pass, and my A7 was good enough in low-light. Check the full set out at isohigh.com

Here's a sample of some of the product photography I've been doing for the past 7 months. While I don't consider myself an expert, I do see improvement month-to-month and if anyone has questions, I think I have enough experience to answer most of them. I use 2 Nikon speed lights with soft...

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I was there with a vendor, and I was just behind the gate, not in the actual competition area. These were all shot with my Sony Ay7 and 55mm f/1.8 at about ISO 400 - 800.

I'm starting to feel a little burnt out so it's time to come up with a personal project and take a break from all the commercial/fitness stuff I've been shooting. Here are some shots using the B/W mode on the Sony A7:

Yes sir all handheld, I don't own a tripod. I believe the lowest shutter speed I used was 1/25th and sometimes I bumped my ISO to 1600. The Sony A7 is really light and small so I think that gives me a slight advantage as well. And I do hold my breath while I compose and shoot.
