I was thinking of the metallic sauna suits that were popular in the 80s: I know Y3 likes to push the boundaries, but be honest - if an old man was wearing these in a nursing home, would you even give a second look?  If creams are 'dad shoes', I don't know what you'd call these zippered joints.

I just looked at a couple pairs of UB that I have handy and the stitching stops before reaching the top, like the circle you have drawn on the right.  Shouldn't be an issue either way, though.

Some people do, and there's not many options other than living with it or taking out the insole to give a little more room.  Some people just have taller toes than others.

I get pain in the same spot so I remove the insole and that takes care of the problem.  They won't loosen up much over time, but you can try to stretch them out by inserting something like a jar or glass and let them sit for a while.  Careful not to stress the seams, though.

I'd take 3M over GITD any day for visibility.  Everything GITD that I've ever had fades very quickly and wouldn't maintain enough viz to last during a run.  These are for stunting in the club.

For playing basketball in them, I'd go textile.  Otherwise whatever you think looks good.
