Don't know enough about the inner workings of JB to really understand how much Gentry influenced the day-to-day design and allocation decisions, but I can easily say JB's worst two eras were under his watch. Good riddance.

I get the argument that hype sells and this is part of a larger plan to eventually raise the price of their shoes to some astronomical figure, but if Nike is really not cool with UA manufacturers making money off their IP (and indirectly all of the money they invest in marketing those products)...
