I think it also depends on what the op wants to do with the shoes. If they have no interest in keeping/wearing either pair, then yeah, 'market value' doesn't really matter. If they want one more than the other, then I would use those as a starting point for negotiations.

Assuming CBSA does their job correctly, you should only be saving the $12 brokerage fee. There's a lot of misinformation on here that you'll save tons by self clearing. In cases like that, it was the CBSA agent not doing their job correctly and miscalculating.

Tbh, I'm generally open to trades, but my list of wants is very specific (there's not much that I don't get on my own). On top of that, I will expect the cash added (on either side) to be a fair amount. Most ppl try to offer $50 in cash when the cash add should really be $100 or more.
