Despite my feelings about the leather toe, and hoping it was something on the kids release only, I still ordered a pair off NDC.
I have a pair of the 08 blue toe that's starting to look pretty vintage, all of the white parts have turned into a cream/off-white shade.
Another pair arrived a lot sooner than expected and is easily the worst one I've ordered by virtue of glue stains on the heel counter. Guess the glue was running out and they squeezed the bottle too hard to get it out?
Shoes look decent enough otherwise.
Edit: this is the pair...
Took a little longer for my Champs confirmation to come in, probably because they were trying to find my pair in their inventory. Should be coming midweek from a store all the way in Kansas.
Going to hold off on more pairs until the blue toe OG colorway comes back, then I may get one of those...
I know what you mean by that. I think I could have done the same thing for my pair but I'd rather play it safe and go with my true size that I know fits versus a size that *could* fit but with a lesser guarantee it'll be comfortable.
Can't (or can?) believe they sold out on SNKRS. I thought the backdooring stopped when Amy Hebert stepped down.
I still have wearable pairs from the 2008 release so at least I have some sort of backup.
I wear a 10.5 in these and they fit true to size. I also wear a 10.5 in the Air Max III/90 recraft and the fit is the same: snug, yet comfortable. I can wiggle my toes as I have just enough room in the toebox.
I think the 2021 fits more true to size than the 2008. I put on a size 10 Structure...
I used to get random custom fitteds because I wanted something that felt exclusive to me.
Eventually I stopped buying those kinds of fitteds and now just wear onfield authentic Yankees hats. I have one NY Rangers new era fitted, before Fanatics took over, those are pretty much the only hats I wear.
Wore the 2021s today. Slightly more comfortable than the 2008, softer insole and midsole make a difference but otherwise comfort is as expected. Also the toebox doesn't get as wrinkled.
Yep a detail I didn't notice until I picked up the 2021. I think I assumed all these years that that was how it was supposed to be but I've no idea if the OG from 1991 had grey or white.
I know what you mean about the 08s, they were very stiff but they did get a little more comfortable after wearing them for a while. I haven't worn the 2021s out for walking yet but from trying them on comfort seems to be about the same. The insole feels like it has more comfort than the 2008's...
Wore one of my 2008 pairs today. Still wearable, despite the paint shredding in some spots the midsole is still solid.
The 2021 has a slightly thicker tongue up top now, it's also now light grey and white while the 2008 was all light grey.
I'm hopeful it won't be so bad. I compared the 2021 that came in this morning with a DS pair from 2008: the paint job on the 2008's was pretty bad, to put it lightly
2008 on the top, 2021 on the bottom.
You can see a thick blob of midsole paint (near the swoosh and the black portion of...
So Sneaker News says that is Persian Violet...

If they really changed it to a leather toe... :smh:
I have a pair of the ultramarine/blue toe from 2008 that I will just have to hold onto if that pleather toe is on the final product. I remember the early pictures before the 2008 release had a couple OG colors with a "rain camo" pattern that was thankfully omitted from the final version. Hoping...
I remember the ’08 release was very limited, bought my first pair at Alife and then the second one at West. MSRP back then was $105 but I remember paying a little more at West, maybe 125?
Never saw these at bigger retailers back then.
