Manny Pacquiao, left, and Juan Manuel Marquez are set to do it again March 15 in Las Vegas.
The bout, which will be televised by HBO PPV, is a much-anticipated rematch of their dramatic May 8, 2004, brawl. Pacquiao (45-3-2, 34 KOs) knocked Marquez (48-3-1, 35 KOs) down three times in the first round of the featherweight championship fight, but Marquez battled back and the slugfest was ruled a split draw. Pacquiao, the star of the division, easily outpointed Marco Antonio Barrera in an Oct. 6 rematch and was considering either the Marquez rematch or moving up to challenge lightweight titlist David Diaz. Ultimately, he decided to take the Marquez fight. Diaz will defend his 135-pound belt on the undercard, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum told ESPN.com. Arum said that if Diaz and Pacquiao both win, he would match them in July. A win by Pacquiao in July could lead to the ultimate showdown in September: A welterweight fight against Golden Boy Promotions boss Oscar De La Hoya in De La Hoya's career finale, Arum said. At the end of the full article, they're talking about Pacquiao moving up to welterweight to fight De La Hoya if he beats Marquez and Diaz?

What I get from the article is that if Pac-Man beats Marquez then whoever is promoting him at the time, Arum/Golden Boy, see The Baby Bull as the nextlogical opponent. If he then beats Diaz then perhaps fighting De La Hoya would be in his future. That is probably Bob Arum just talking out of his%%+! but aslong as we get Pac-Man v. Marquez and Pac-Man v. Diaz, I would be cool.

Also I think I pretty much repeated what you typed but just added alot more words. You read the article correctly but we'll see what happens.

Williams vs Cintron Canceled

The plan sounded reasonable enough: Welterweight titlist Kermit Cintron would blow through Jesse Feliciano in a routine defense on Nov. 23 and then move on to a big-time unification match with fellow titleholder Paul Williams on Feb. 2.
So much for the best-laid plans. Cintron (29-1, 27 KOs) found out Thursday that the pain in his aching right hand that he injured during the first round of his tough 10th-round TKO of Feliciano was caused by severe ligament damage. Dr. R. Scott Cook, an orthopedic surgeon in Cintron's hometown of Reading, Pa., advised Cintron not to fight until at least March 1, promoter Main Events announced Thursday. There goes the fight with Williams (33-0, 24 KOs), who won his belt in July by outpointing Antonio Margarito, the only fighter to defeat Cintron. "I'm disappointed that I injured my hand, but I'm going to do whatever the doctor says because I'm eager to get back into the ring and unify the welterweight title," Cintron said. Main Events chief Kathy Duva said there was no thought of trying to rush Cintron back into the ring for the big-money fight. "Kermit will take the time necessary to heal his hand," Duva said. "We will not run the risk of him entering the ring and injuring his hand further." HBO, which was supposed to televise Cintron-Williams as the main event of a tripleheader, and Williams promoter Dan Goossen are moving forward with the card and trying to secure a replacement for Cintron. "We're obviously moving forward with Feb. 2," Goossen said. "Who wants to take on Paul Williams? That's what it boils down to. The opportunity is there." Goossen said he has been in touch with representatives for Zab Judah, Ricardo Mayorga, Luis Collazo and Carlos Quintana. "We want the biggest fight we can get," Goossen said. "Paul wants to fight. He hasn't fought since July 14. So we are moving full steam ahead to get someone in place as quickly as possible." Judah is No. 1 on the list and his promoter, Brian Young, said he will talk over the fight with Judah and his father/trainer, Yoel Judah. "I think it would be a great fight, competitive," Young said. "I need to see if Zab is ready to take it." Judah outpointed Ryan Davis on Nov. 17 but suffered a small crack in his left hand. "The hand will be OK, but he can't spar until January," Young said. "The hand is a little tender, but it's not a big deal. We'll see what happens. I am waiting to hear back from Zab and his father. I think there's interest. How much, I can't say." lol @ the De La Hoya vs Pacquiao idea.. Oscar's like 30 lbs heavier than Pacquiao at walking weight.

Anyway, Pacquiao Marquez will be similar to Pac Barrera II. No one's knocking anyone out. Marquez already tasted Pac's power so he won't slug itout with him, but he will fight smart by counter-punching. Pac's boxing skills and defense improved, but if this will be a 'boxing' match and nota slug fest, I see Marquez winning 12 round split decision...

Anybody catch SHObox last night? Two first round KO's, but really entertaining knockouts. Alfred Angulo was getting beaten to the punch by his opponent, then landed three left hooks and a right hand, dropped him, then hit him with another right hand when he got up and destroyed him.

In the main event James Kirkland came out strong and bullied Allen Conyers to the ropes, but 30 seconds in he walked into a right hand and got dropped. He gotup, lookin like Aaron Pryor in his heyday, getting ready to sprint back at his opponent. Kirkland came right back dropped Conyers with a straight left, andConyers' legs were gone. He shoed heart, fighting back till the end, but Kirkland dropped him again with 4 seconds left in the round and that was it. Gottagive Conyers credit though, he was the first one to drop Kirkland, and even though he went down, he went down in flames.

Kirkland's post fight interview was hilarious too. He was describing the knockdown and at one point just went "man that left-hand is a beast,BOOM".

Tarver and Vernon Forrest won last night and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr knocked out Ray Sanchez in the 6th round

Ricky by no way is underestimateing floyd or his power he has trained maybe the hardest Ive ever seen and his team have a game plan for him carefullyconstructed from tape, over here in the UK our press isnt biased towards Ricky for the fight they keep it real.Mayweather is a great boxer has all the tools anda great chin but this doesnt mean he impossible to beat nobody is I just want to see Floyds reaction to the first solid body shot he recieves from Ricky thenwe will see how much of a chance Ricky has, because IF Ricky can hurt him Floyds in trouble.Rickys gonna have to take his punches he knows this but hes gonnabe a man possesed on a mission in there but can Floyd take Rickys precise painfull shots to the body that we have to wait and see.Any true boxing followerknows this isnt a one sided fight and you cant be a bum and 43-0 youd have been exposed way before now,Ive been watching Ricky since 97 on the undercard ofPrince Naseem vs Kevin Kelley at Madison Square Garden and the 3 fights the US have seen is by no way anywhere near the best of Ricky but come saturday youwill Ive never seen him so focused or in such great shape.Yes he needs to be because of who and what Floyd is I hope its all talk for Floyds sake that hedoesnt rate Hatton because you should never underistimate an aponant Roberto Duran is Rickys hero if you dont know wat he did to Tommy Hearns in 1984 go googleit watch the youtube video and bare in mind Duran was given zero chance to win this fight.I for one cant wait for saturday Ill watch at 3am UK time with myheart in my mouth adrenaline pumping Ricky has to non stop pressure and punish the body because he will never get a points decision in Vegas.Im English yes soid love to see Ricky do it no matter who wins Boxings the winner gonna be a great fight bring on Saturday.

Peace
Scottie

Like i said in another post, i got nothing against Rickey, i'm not a Mayweather fan, just a boxing fan. My thought on this fight is simply from a styleperspective. I've never been THAT impressed when i've seen Rickey even at his "best". He went life and death and was almost out on his feetwith Luis Collazo. Mayweather is a slicker fighter, with better defense and accuracy, and better handspeed than Collazo. Floyd does what Collazo does, better.Thats why i think Floyd will take this with ease. He has everything needed to give Hatton trouble. And he can still pop a little. Collazo only had 12 KO'sin 26 wins and had Rickey hurt. Floyd has 24 in 38 fights, and has a few KO's recently. He KO'd Gatti, Sharmba, Philip N'Dou, and but DemarcusCorley on the canvas twice. Obviously he doesn't have 1 punch ko power, but he has enough power to KO you if he hits you enough. I think Hatton will beinfront of him a lot.

And i think Rickey may be underestimating his power because he keeps talking about floyd pitty-patting his punches and fighting off his backfoot all night.Floyd doesn't engage all that much, but he puts more on his punches than most people think.

Donaire (actually pronounced "Do-nai-ree" as opposed to "Doh-nayre") complaining about his legs are signs that going down to 112 lbs mightbe too much for him at his age. When he was here in Cebu, he was around 134lbs. Good win though, he'll eventually be a pretty good 118-122 lber.Donaire's left hook is serious. He's just like Cotto, a natural lefty who fights orthodox, thats why he's able to switch to southpaw at times.

Vernon Forrest impressed me as well... Threw some nice combos and kept landing that killer upper-cut.

Didn't catch the Tarver fight, switched channels to watch our local boxers Boom Boom Bautista and AJ Banal who were fighting as well. Bautista won, buteh.. not much improvement. He got tagged alot, but was just lucky his opponent didn't have POnce De Leon's power. He still chose to slug it out, throwbody shots and low blows... (home court advantage, no warning on his low blows). Boy's got heart and stamina though. Fight went to 12 action packedrounds... no jabs, mostly uppercuts to the body and left hooks and straight rights to the head.. probably threw 3 jabs the entire fight

btw, Amohoop or any Floyd fans, check out youtube.... some dude with the name "Floydmayweatherjrp4p" just uploaded a bunch of Floyd's earlyfights!

DLH was throwing body shots and Mayweather the whole night and none never had him hurt so i dont see Hattons body shots hurting him much.

JLC gave Floyd a tough fight a few years back, but floyd had a messed up shoulder, and JLC hit harder than Hatton, imo, and was much better at cutting off thering and keeping Floyd from moving all over the place.

EDIT: ^Didn't see the Chavez mention before writing this post

I'm not looking too much into the Collazo fight. I think Hatton's style is better suited for orthodox fighters and may be the reason he struggledsomewhat against Collazo. The only knockdown of his career was also against a southpaw. If anyone's seen the Mayweather-Chavez fight, I think this is aboutthe closest thing to a preview of the fight you'll find even though it took place years ago....it's on youtube if anyone wants to check it out. Eventhough Chavez got whooped for the most part I think Hatton will be a lot more effective using a similar style. Hatton seems to be quicker, stronger, givesbetter angles, etc. If anyone saw 24/7 tonight it looks like Mayweather is practicing that same short right hook in the inside that was so effective againstChavez but I can't see him being able to land that as easy since Hatton is so smothering and always holding.

I still have Mayweather winning, landing a lot of clean punches and busting up Hattons face but I think the fight will be fairly close.

Ricky against Collazo was a mess if u go back and watch that fight Hatton was sluggish and blown up he never gained good weight and he struggled and it was anawefull performance I for one a huge Ricky fan thought hed blown it,but his camp have said he will come down in weight for this fight after the weigh in andnot gain like most boxers. He will fight closer to his normal weight hes not underestimateing Floyd at all thats tactical talk he is very respectful of allfighters he boxes he dont run his mouth much he just turns up and gos to work. You guys have never given Ricky a chance because of his style no matter if hedoes win you guys will find excuses why it wasnt deserved, hes always stepped up to the plate and beaten anybody whos in there with him.Nobody had Jeff Laceygetting a 12 round battering from Joe Calzaghe but it happened or him beating Kessler and none of you gave Ricky a chance against Castillo hes not there for apayday this means everything to him and you will see that Saturday night.

Also last I heard it was closer to 30 000 Brits comin out with only 5000 havein tickets we got robbed on the tickets again cause they dont want a pro Rickycrowd

Peace
