Bigger contract, better taxes situation. deGrom was hurt most of last season. He was looking for one big contract that will probably be his last one. It’s the smart move if you get past possibly not winning a ring.

That’s all part of it. Texas, especially since Covid, has been a very attractive place to relocate to. Especially in comparison to places like NYC- expensive, taxes, a lot of media scrutiny, crime. He can stretch his money longer in Texas and probably deal with less distractions. I’m not mad at his decision. The Mets definitely have to get some quality starters but even so, he barely played for the team last season. He’s been hurt a lot the past two years. Going past a 3 year deal would be a lot for a dude with those issues, as great as he is when he’s healthy.
 
I know too many Mets fans waiting to clown the Yankees for losing Judge. The perfect off-season would be to sign judge, and dump Donaldson, and hicks salary to sign someone else.
 
They've been in since the start of the offseason. Half of Mets rotation are free agents.
