Using this hashtag will hopefully provide NTers with extra motivation and maybe even friendly competition. Once we reach a certain number of community runners, we can get into Nike+ challenges like the old times (see below).

II. (08/08/11) RACE TO 1000mi - "REP YOUR SEASON!"

The goal is to reach 1000 MILES. However, this time we're going to have FOUR TEAMS, and the first to reach 1000mi WINS! CHALLENGERS will select their TEAM according to their BIRTHDAY within a SEASON.

III. (10/16/11) RUNNING of the BEASTS - RACE to 3K

The goal is to accumulate 3000 MILES. However, this time we're going to have THREE TEAMS, and the first to reach 3000mi, takes home the DIGITAL TROPHY! CHALLENGERS will select their TEAM according to their birthDAY# within their respective MONTH.

IV. (04/01/12) STRIPES vs. SOLIDS 8000

The goal is to accumulate 8000 miles as a TEAM before the other. There'll be TWO teams, and they will be based on birthMONTHs. The FIRST to 8000mi takes home the DIGITAL TROPHY!

- What's the purpose?
To promote and/or maintain good health and exercise. It may also inspire us to run that extra mile to test our physical and mental capabilities.   

- What do I get?
Winners of the challenge will get a digital NIKE+ Medal added to their collection. Most importantly, all Challengers will be able to achieve their fitness goals.


- What do I need?
You will NEED a Nike+ capable device; iPhone 3GS-5, iPod Nano/Touch, Android or Nike+ (or GPS) watch. You'll also need to register an account for the Nike Running app. Once registered, set your Privacy Setting to "public" or "social".

- How can I join the challenge?
After registering an account on the Nike Running app, ACCEPT the Challenge invitation thought the app.

- How does it work, and how can I contribute/participate?
Once you have your Nike+ device and app in good working order, get out there and RUN! or WALK! Once you've completed your workout, simply sync it to the Nike+ website, and it should accumulate to your team's total mileage. However, remember you must FIRST JOIN THE CHALLENGE in order for the MILES to COUNT for your team's total.

For NEW Challengers who've just joined the Challenge as it's in progress AND have run recently prior to joining the Challenge, your mileage WILL be also be COUNTED just as long as the runs were completed after TBA.

You will NEED a Nike+ capable device; iPhone 3GS-4, iPod Nano/Touch, or Nike+ (or GPS) watch. You'll also need to register an account at nikeplus.com (free) to track your individual progress and NT's overall progress. If you've ordered from NDC before, I'm sure you can use the same login.

If you have an iPhone/iPod Touch, there are two options. One is download the Nike+ GPS app ($1.99 from the App Store). The other is to purchase a Nike+ sensor (~$18). If you have an older iPod, you'll need to purchase a Nike+ sensor and receiver. I think it's around $30 (correct me if I'm wrong).

- How can I join the challenge?
After registering a Nike+ account, click on the link above, and add yourself to the appropriate team according to your birthMONTH.

- How does it work, and how can I contribute/participate?

When the FIRST TEAM RUNS  and ACCUMULATES 8000mi. Otherwise, it will expire on April 1, 2013.

Anywho... We could set it up as a Distance Race (ex. First to 200M), Most Miles until a certain date, etc. We could make it a Team Challenge or Individual.

How about we make it a group effort instead of a race i.e lets try to reach 10000 miles run by the end of the summer

I'm down when you figure out the terms.  I've been using nike + since feb.

i for one cannot run as far and as often as many of the people here can, and if im trying to get to 200m before someone else, I would be deterred from running if someone is even 20 miles ahead of me and has a steady running schedule. but if I am contributing a mile or so a day to a 10000 mile goal, I would be much more motivated to run.

I may be interested.  Probably have to replace my Lunareclipse.  Almost have 450 miles on them.  Insoles are horrible but it's a decent running shoe.  Might have to go back to asics.  But the Nike+ is fun to use.
