Watching different YouTube videos and it keeps saying New Mexico is one of the poorest states in the USA. Is it really that bad? Also, I was hearing about the crime being terrible and lack of resources. Anyone here been to NM or live there that can explain if this is true?

NM is pretty bad but that's because it is a very rural state with limited tax revenue.

New Mexico is beautiful. Like a mix of Colorado and Arizona but with less people.

Santa Fe is awesome. Albuquerque isn’t somewhere you want to be though.

I've heard the medical system there isn't the best.

I like in Arizona and was thinking about moving to NM to save some $$$ due to cost of living and someone told me I was better off moving to El Paso Tx.

AZ was nice when it was cheap. NM got alotta dirt mess up your nikes. SW skyline at night was bueno. Life is slower in the rural desert and u hear espanol a lot .

My sister in law lived in Santa Fe for a few years and enjoyed it.

I never got to visit but my wife did and enjoyed it - although obviously that’s different from living there.

Just depends what you’re into, like the outdoors it’s great and cheap.

I know numerous people who live there in the winter from mn and my hs gf was from there and moved back after college.

Don’t expect some booming job market.

I don’t know how people live in these dreary desert landscape states it’s truly the worst (to me). It’s such a lonely existence. I much prefer the humid hot greenery filled world in Asia or New York for example.

Upstate New York? Cause if it’s New York City, it smells like hot garbage

Been to Taos, ABQ and Santa Fe. I’m a huge fan of the Southwest - the culture, food and landscape. Admittedly that part of the world isn’t for everyone and ABQ would be the last place I would want to be. Taos and SF are really nice.
