That's curiosity of man. We'll never be satisfied with the "status quo", especially in the area of technology.

But with that said, advances in technology is not something to be afraid of...concerned yes. Man has always been susceptible to greed and we've seen what that can do to our nation, but

technology has the ability to re-shape the outlook of the entire world.
All I'm saying is Russel Edington* had a VERY good point... Do we even NEED all this @*+$ we come up with? And if we ruin the natural gifts that the earth has provided (for the sake of irrelevant @*+$ like SUVs and iPods), is it even worth it? Re-shape it....for what? Maybe we need to re-shape our own perspective and stop thinking @*+$ isn't good enough. It's a shame the earth has supported complex life for MILLIONS of years and we have the power to undo the whole planet in months if we make one careless mistake..

I understand where you're coming from, but this is what man does. The question of need? I mean...do we need anything really? Cars? Aside from food, shelter, and security...we don't need
anything else. But when we start talking about improving the quality of life, then the argument shifts drastically. Personally, I'm intrigued by the potential of man. Like, do you think if we (mankind) was told that there was NOTHING in space...like this is a fact. Do you think we'd still explore? I think so. That's an impressive feat for human beings and so is the rapid advancement of technology.

Sure, this might seem somewhat irrelevant.. But what about the engineer, Dean Kamen, who created advanced prosthetic limbs for troops.
(skip to 4:30 to see the actual apparatus)

I'll be the first to say that for every "good" invention, there's 1,000 worthless advancements in areas that never needed...like all the improvements we have in the sex game. Ribbed condoms, cialis, etc... But the good and the bad goes hand in hand and I'm really fascinated to see if man can reach their innovative potential.

I think what's most interesting about the article is the discussion of computer/data interfacing with DNA.

IMO i think everything we discover will eventually lead us to the fact that we were created better than anything we can make.

Seems like people at least try till it becomes evident.
