Toronto Loves Kicks is founded by 2 guys who have a passion for the community and sneakers. On September 15th, 2013 they held their 4th installment of "United We Sole" our only sneaker convention in the city. I've personally known them for about 3 years and I met up with one of the founders earlier in the year. We talked about the current sneaker game/trends/etc and presented me with a pair of Air Jordan 10 Linens as a base to start off with. We didn't speak much of what the custom would be but he simply said that he trusted me haha.

My first idea that came to mind of course was to make the theme about toronto but i HONESTLY hate overdoing a custom on jordans cause that just doesnt feel right :smh:. I wanted to do something that i had never done on a pair of customs and i was looking into using a wood burning tool. I bought a new one that had a temperature gauge to control the burn and depth of it and thought of engraving one pair of the jordans with a map of toronto. The right pair detailed, the left pair simple.

For the inside of the right pair i thought of common Toronto nicknames/area code and i just had to put the Screwface Capital in it :smokin. For the outside of that pair I wanted to use a static heart-line like you would see on a monitor and incorporate the toronto skyline. Of course I had to add my tag on the toe :nerd:. Lastly I made the outlines of the bodies of the two founders, one is bald with glasses and the other is always with a fitted and braids haha!!

Lastly i just added pics from when I first showed the guys the customs for the first time the day of the convention haha!

Overall this was a great experience with using engraving as a main option for my customs. Ive learned a lot but practice will make perfect. These took me maybe 2 weeks to conquer. On a side note, I've started my career as a customs broker and haven't had the time for customs but sneakers are my true hobby and hopefully it wont take me too long for my next.

Feel free to post criticism,

One love.

yeah these are cool. I like the right shoe better than the left personally, nice work man

great work, i love customs if they are simple yet get the point across or they make a shoe into another shoe you want (different colorways into the colorway you want)

Hi SELFMADEAPPEAL,

How can people get in touch with you about customization jobs? I want to surprise someone with a custom designed Nike Air Force One shoe and I really like your work.

Thanks, MB

P.s. If any other members have any recommendations for sketch artists in Toronto (ppl with laser sketching or pyrography skill), I'd appreciate suggestions.
