how do i remove the elastic laces? they have a plastic lace tip that you can't fit through the lace holes and they don't appear to snap off...
i doubt i'm expected to cut the laces off

The red bungee laces have knots tied underneath the black plastic tab/bobbles at the end. Just slide the bobble up, untie the knot and slide the lace right out. No cutting of the laces required.
