zing!!! dude must feel like he just won a gold medal after typing that. i never understand why folks in one branch go at others in another branch. they are all used as political strong arms. what, you made the comment because the marines are better at it catching bullets and not caring?

laugh.gif
are you in the army or somthing? why are you so mad. It's all in good fun, what makes you think the marines don't care and that they're good at "catching bullets"? "Once a marine, always a marine" you don't hear the same about army soldiers, the statement about the marines not caring is invalid. Also, catching bullets? the marines are the first to fight so i guess one could say that. but the amount of training a marine receives help minimize that

MAD!?!?! *chuckle* please. you wereobviously trying to rile up the army folk, so i opted to take the bait.

but to answer your question, yes, i was in the ARMY. combat MOS (tanker) and recruiter, so i've worked alongside and enlisted many people who have/had theheart to make it in any branch, but they chose the ARMY.

ok, i was a bit rash with the catching bullets comment, and i apologize to any jar head i may have ticked off with it, but i felt provoked. it's not easybeing an ex-member of the 1st and oldest branch of the u.s. military and hear someone belittle it for the sake of peddling ignorance. if you forgot, it goeslike this: from ARMY came AF, from NAVY came USMC. your comment was like a young padawan running to another and telling him that the elder jedi are halfhearted.

cute army acronym, you probablydidn't understand why i gave the jedi analogy.

i worked with a guy who served 7 or 8 years in special ops for the core, he got out then went into the ARMY special forces. i asked him why, and he said thatwhen in the core he wasn't taught to work smarter, i'll just leave it at that. jar heads are called that why exactly...?

AF is probably the hardest to get in, but might not be the rough 'n tough branch you might be looking for.

Check out "One Bullet Away- The Making of a Marine Officer" by Nathaniel Fick. It gives a good account of Marine OCS and what life may be like as ayoung Marine Corps officer. Definitely do your research though between all the branches if thats the route you want go.

same could be said about the army ... when i was in an army E-6 ranger ...that did 12 years ARMY...he left and joined the MARINES ...joined the marines as0311 PVT ...but became PFC outta bootcamp cuz of his age and military experience ..he was even interview by local San Diego news on why he decide to leave theARMY and become a Marine...he replied "I always wanted to be a Marines, it was my dream...
laugh.gif
" ...and i use to wonder why we call the Army puppies ...they just wanna belike us ....the Germans gave us the name Devil Dogs for a reason, we escort the president for a reason, we are well respected by foreign military for a reason...etc.... the Army ....well ...yah ...they do have nice chow halls.

i'm not mad...my cousin in the Army...and we bash each other all the time .....

i still find it funny when it'salways army this, army that coming out of jar headsmouth. if you really felt you were so much better then another branch, you wouldn't acknowledge them. i should just chalk it up to flattery that even though you're not asked about us, you still make it a point to mentionus.

and escorting the president, youserious? i could play the going back and forward game of "what my branch has done or gets to do" with you,but that just becomes counterproductive to the point i'm trying to make. we all do dirty work in our own differentways and with different means of getting the dirty work done. you guys obviously take pride in being modeled after thetasmanian devil or something when it comes to going into an operation, then so be it. we just choose to be a littlemore meticulous when it comes to such matters. so, in your eyes that makes y'all better? -funny-

i'm just saying, you cats sound alittle pretentious with your bashing of not just the ARMY, but of any branch. did you guys carry the first and onlyrifles into battle, did you guys fire the first sabot round on a tank, and did you guys fly the first and only chopper or fixed winged craft in awar? some of you marines sure talk like you did.

I was thinking about trying the Navy or Air Force, preferably Navy. I heard it's pretty competitive for the Air Force tho.
