I haven't checked the "rock music: what are you listening to" thread, but I haven't seen any thread on Arcade Fire.
I was just wondering if anybody else was feeling them. Just recently checked for them and I've gotta say, while neither work is the flawless masterpiecethey are purported to be, I'd say that both have a collection of good songs, peppered with a handful of great ones. All in all, funeral and Neon Bible areboth damn good, with the latter being one of the better albums that I've heard in 2007.

Anybody else listening?

get the Arcade Fire EP. it's only 7 songs, but it's their best work IMO (although all 3 are great.)
Headlights Look Like Diamonds is one of the greatest songs i've ever heard.

the red lights mean you're leaving
the white ones mean returnin'
t-tell me how the story ends
and i'll keep them fires burnin'

the headlights look like diamonds
the taillights burn like coals
t-tell me how the story ends
before the fires grow cold

i was flipping through the channels a few weeks ago and saw one of their concerts on PBS, and i was blown away. i'd love to see them live...

the new version of no cars go is epic.

Is that different from the one on Neon Bible?

No Cars Go is one of, if not my favorite Arcade Fire song. I put my boy up on up it and he doesn't even #$%! with indie rock like that and he digs it.

feelin it for a minute to be honest

also clap your hands... new pornographers... chromeo...decembrists..

No cars go, rebellion (lies), wake up, neighborhood (tunnels) are all epic. First heard of them in Mike Mo's part in Lakai Fully Flared and I fell in love.Their music is so epic, relaxing, and uplifting. I know this is cliche but it really hits the heart and soul. It hits really hard inside and that's whatmusic is supposed to be.

saw them open for David Byrne (Talking Heads) in the summer of 2005 at the Hollywood Bowl...amazing

One of the, if not THE, best Indie group out...their combination of sounds just blows me away.

going back and listening to neon bible, i think i would put it as my number 1 album of 07. or in the top 3..
I'd definitely agree with top 3. I gotta hold out on the number one spot as I have yet to listen to In Rainbows.

and yea....I'd definitely agree with whomever it was who said their sound is epic. I think grand would be another fitting adjective. The arrangement on NoCars Go is simply breath-taking. The last minute of that song....man, I feel like the heavens could part when its on.

Glad to see this thread still has life in it. I was almost sure it would've flopped hard.
