Assassination or murder?

How famous do you have to be for it to be considered assassination and not murder?

fame has nothing to do with it necessarily. assassination is typically a politically motivated killing. you can't assassinate kim kardashian, she has no value in society. but a political activist yea.

I guess I never really thought of it like that. I just always thought of it in terms of JFK(just an example) being assassinated while a famous rapper/singer would be murdered. Thank you! Does assassination always have to be political? What made me think of this is that one of my friends just tweeted "i want to be so famous that killing me would be an assassination"
