im going to make this short and easy.
you EARN respect its not given to nobody no matter who it is.
rap is all about word play and you got fooled by the word play white lies are small lies.(and we all know small lies turn into epic sized lies the longer you lie)
It's more a matter of respecting the title/position than the man himself. It doesn't mean you can't voice your displeasures through protests/etc;again, I was talking about the shoe-throwing incident/glorifying that incident.
I already addressed my getting "fooled" by the wordplay...I understand.
if its a song about obama being a bad candidate due to his decisions, then how would that be racist?Originally Posted by swizzc
Ok, since you obviously can't put 2 and 2 together, how about I give you a different example. If a country music star had came out with a song talking #*** on Obama just as Ludacris did a few months ago on McCain, it would be labeled as racist and people would be calling for his head. Does that make sense to you now?Originally Posted by iHateTimeDotCom
first off... that analogy makes no sense... theres only 1 former president... that doesnt change no matter who won the election... they're not dissin mccain... they're dissin bush... bush was wack no matter what color u are... i kno plenty of white folks who hate bush... so u can flush that hypocrite !!%% right along wit ur flawed logic...Originally Posted by swizzc
Can you imagine if this were 2 white people singing a song like this about Obama if McCain had won? People would be calling for their heads. Hypocrites.

my bad didnt see your last post but you have to be able see the difference between the man and the position. holding the title mean nothing to me if you dont uphold what it stands for and i dont believe that bush had the best interest of this country in mind. once again i respect the position just not some of the men who has sit in it. and i believe jay (and maybe jeezy) do to
Understood and I completely see where you're coming from. I just think for me, throwing a shoe at ANY sitting US President is neverrespectful. It really has nothing to do with Bush to me---Obama could be the best or worst President ever, but me personally...I would never condone throwingthings at him while he holds the title of President.
Back on topic though...that's the media for you. Showing the part of an interview/clip that forwards their ideals (in this case Fox's highlyconservative ones) instead of letting the people view the entire clip and judge for themselves.
I agree with those saying O'Reilly/Miller got off topic/their comments about black single parents/etc. had absolutely nothing to do w/the Jay-Z/Young Jeezy topic.
That said, I don't disagree with O'Reilly's stance on this one. PRAISING the person who threw shoes at Bush? He was the President of the US and no matter how much you disagree with him, he deserves respect for his title. Second, "white lies"...because of course any "lies" by the Bush administration automatically becomes "white" lies. If these rappers/people are so excited about Obama bringing people together/the country being unified (which I agree with), there's no point to this.
This is 100% true.
Jay was just lyrics though. And it wasn't that BAD. "No more Bush" is not that bad. But Jeezy... are you serious? That was an embarrassment. Butit's not like anyone expected any thing else from him.
