Catching someone keying your vehicle. what's appropriate response?

I just saw another modification on the truck, the baby momma carriage, and i ask myself, if i saw the youngin or grown man violating the truck would i clap atthem, forget pulling the hawk out and going for the buck fifty smile. how would the courts view my reaction? im not trying to dial 91double and give adescription of the perp while he runs away, but if i put a few in his leg, i figure if you step on my toe then i chop off your foot. could i be charged withattempted mnslghtr? whats good?
