Dallas Peeps Back At It

What's your ethnicity? Being Asian myself, I can recommend Richland Hair.

There's a spot in Fair Park that looks hip: http://robschopshop.com/

I've never been, but it seems it's a hip place for "greasers" who want to walk out of there with a pompadour.

Hope this helps somewhat.

Dallas. I seen a lot of people at Nike Dallas Northpark to cop the Jordan Playoff XIs. Who was there?

Common Table @ The Star in Frisco has hip hop brunch on Saturday's and Sunday's, really dope spot
Sidecar Social is a decent spot for nighttime
Bishop Cidercade if you like food trucks/gaming/ciders
Lockhart has good BBQ if you're into that.
Legacy Hall is a good hang out, lots of food/drink places
if you're into breweries/distilleries, Deep Ellum brewery and Deep Ellum distillery are next to each other downtown

Good suggestions by k20lee. Dallas is low-key awesome for food. Hit up the popular areas Farmer's Market, Lower Greenville, Deep Ellum, Arts District, Trinity Groves, Bishop Arts, Lakewood, Design District <-- these are our neighborhoods. Chances are, you'll find something good to eat.

Here are a few of mine:

FOOD:
Steak House: Nick & Sams, Town Hearth (b/c cool interior), Perry's
Sushi: Tei Tei Robata Bar, Sushi Sake (actually in Richardson), Yama Sushi (several locations w/in the Metroplex, cheaper yet authentic)
Ramen: Tei-An (deal during weekday lunch, also bonb-*** bento), Wabi House (Lower Greenville)
Udon: Marugame Udon -- Not only in TX, but locations are limited. There's one now in Dallas
Chinese: Royal China (hand-pulled noodles & soup dumplings), Otherwise, don't waste your time in Dallas, go to surrounding cities, i.e. Richardson: Canton, Kirin Court or Garden Restaurant (Dim Sum)
Korean: Carrollton a city 30-min. away has its own K-town (most restaurants are awesome)
Burgers: JG's Old Fashioned (plug for friend), CHiPs, Kellers (cheap), Rodeo Goat
Sandwiches: Uncle Uber (must try) & Jimmy's Food Market (grab an Italian sandwich at the meat counter, chips and a Root Beer and head to White Rock Lake)
BBQ: Lockharts (as k20lee mentioned), Pecan Lodge, Goldee's (Fort Worth - never been but blowing up)
Mexican / Tacos / Tex-Mex: Plenty of spots. A simple Yelp search should do. Here are a few: La Cuquita, La Calle Doce, Tacos La Banqueta, Fuel City (late night @ gas station), Resident Taco (modernized), Ruins (Deep Ellum - tequilla cocktails aplenty)
Italian: Lucia's (nice dinner spot in Bishop Arts), Eataly (just opened in Northpark Dallas - open food market concept but has a couple of restaurants)
Tapas: Si Tapas, Cafe Madrid
Pizza: Eno's, Fire Side Pies, Cane Rosso, Campisi's (mediocre, but a Dallas staple), Vector (also a brewery and cause it's close to me)
Breweries: Community, Peticolas, Lakewood, Four Corners, Deep Ellum, Manhattan Project, fortunate to have plenty good ones
Brunch: Bread Winners, La Duni, Libertine (bar - cool spot), Johnathon's
Lounge Here - Located near White Rock Lake, nice Palm Springs-type bar with eats, If you're a fatty like me, I recommend the chicken-fried ribeye.
Fried Chicken - Babe's (Carrollton) / Bubba's (Dallas)
Pies: Humble Pie (White Rock Lake), Emporium Pies (Deep Ellum - next to Pecan Lodge & Bishop Art locations)
Vegan: Kalachandji's -- I'm not vegan, but this buffet is unique and delicious. It's within a Hare Krishna temple, but don't let that intimidate you. They don't intend to convert you. Rather they want just want to serve you good food. Awesome outdoor patio.
Seafood: Truluck's, Oceanaire <--pricey options, Rex's Seafood, Nate's <-- More affordable, Tasty Tails, Big Schucks, Aw Schucks, Flying Fish <--even more affordable

OTHER THAN FOOD (Aside from visiting the neighborhoods listed above):
NorthPark Mall - world renown, notice how the older portion is more to human scale -- side story: I walked by Andre 3000 during a week day. I didn't realize he was so short.
Galleria - bigger scale mall in mid-town Dallas
White Rock Lake - For ppl watching, exercise, picnic, etc. Dallas' Central Park
Dallas Arboretum - huge garden adjacent to White Rock Lake, paid entry
Klyde Warren - Public park over Woodall Rogers Freeway, there's a bar or restaurant, but checkout on the weekend when there's food trucks
Perot Museum - building is highlight here, designed by Thom Mayne of LA Architecture firm Morphosis
Nasher Sculpture Museum - Designed by Renzo Piano, rotating exhibit / some permanent
DMA - if you're into more museums
The Modern Art Museum of FW - designed by Tadao Ando
The Kimbell - designed by Louis Kahn, extension by Renzo Piano
Winspear Opera House - Designed by Norman Foster & Partners don't know what shows are playing
Dee & Charles Wyly Theatre - Formerly an OMA project (Rem Koolhaas) but Prince Ramus as official architect, you can't miss this metal pipe building
Centre - sneakers & streetwear
Sneakerpolitcs in Deep Ellum
The Laboratory DTX - resell sneaker shoppe
Luke's Locker - running shoes
Run On! - another running shoe store
Nike Dallas - Again, in NorthPark Mall
Good Records - Dallas staple record store, partially own by Tim Delaughter of famed Tripping Daisies & Polyphonic Spree

There are so many other places to mention in Dallas alone. I may come back to this post to update. It's always fun to come up with this list for my own inventory. Best bet walk around Lower Greenville, Deep Ellum, and Bishop Arts. You're bound to discover good food and sites. Whatever you go, be safe, enjoy the ppl. and welcome to our city!

Another note: don't expect too many sites downtown. Sure hit up JFKs assassination spot, Arts District, and the start of Deep Ellum, but at night the rest becomes a ghost town. A rougher crowd hangs around the train stations. Though we have trains, they are limited. If anything, they'll get you to Deep Ellum and Fair Park but be wary of panhandlers.

I appreciate you thank you and bboybatoc, last question, which area should I stay at which is a middle ground to get to places, thanks in advance

Chances are you'll need to rent a car or Lyft/Uber everywhere. From DFW that trip could be pricey. If flying into Love Field, you're golden.

I've always been a fan of AirBnB. If you go this route, consider finding accomodations in the M Streets/Lakewood this will put you close to Greenville. Moreover, this is a pivotal spot in the city making you equidistant to the other hotspots I've mentioned. This would be my ideal move.

You can ball and stay in downtown: Joule (boutique in downtown proper), Hotel Zaza (boutique in Uptown), Omni (upper in downtown proper), Fairmont (upper in downtown proper), Adolphus (upper in downtown proper) Magnolia (upper in downtown proper), Lorenzo (?? beaten path of downtown), Aloft (more affordable, again beaten path of downtown). Like I said, downtown is dead at sundown.

If you research Bishop Arts and discover you like that scene, you can AirBnB there, but it's further away from everything else. This is also the case with staying next to the galleria.

Dallas is a commuter city expect to be driving or ride-share everywhere. Hope this too is helpful.

Air_raw09 Air_raw09 Also, understand that spots k20lee k20lee mentioned The Star and Legacy Hall are in Frisco and Plano, respectively. These along with Carrollton (I mention) are suburbs of Dallas. You will need a car to reach these places, and they have a network of hot spots for food and shopping themselves. In that case, research for each of those cities alone would be to your benefit if you decide to stay out there.

Will be there next month. Staying downtown Dallas. Good things to check out? Good strip clubs? Where not to go around downtoen?

951guero 951guero Unfortunately, a lot doesn't happen downtown with the exception of Kylde Warren Park, the museum district, and on your way to Deep Ellum. See my previous post on March 3rd where I helped out Air_raw09 Air_raw09 .

BTW, Air_raw09 Air_raw09 , how was your visit?

951guero 951guero It's been a while since I've been to clubs. Last time I recall, The Clubhouse is all nude with tatted girls. The Lodge is cleaner. Also, checkout Baby Dolls, Spearmint Rhino & The Gentlemen's Club.

It was a great random trip, I went to a lot of the recommended spots like Deep Ellum, and Bishop Arts, went to the aquarium, went to a rodeo in fortworth. The overall experience was great, I would def move from NY to dallas in a heart beat. Thanks again for the recommendations

Bro came to DFW for a few days and went to the rodeo
I've been in Texas all my life and only been to a rodeo once

It all depends on what you like as far as food spots and the area you are staying in for BBQ try out Terry Black's I went last week and got full off a slice of brisket, 1 rib and Mac and Cheese, Serious Pizza, Vidorra Mexican spot is so so because you dont get a lot of food for the price but it is a nice set up and pretty women coming in and out. As far a strip clubs it depends on what kind of girls you like so I would suggest XTC,Rick's, DG's, Dallas Caberet North & South, AOD or V-Live. Don't go too Southeast of Downtown. You will be in Sunny South Dallas aka Da Hood

I'm not scared of South Dallas I hung out over there from time to time when I was younger. You are right they do have some good food spots but as far as hangout spots or clubs where is it to hangout over there for visitors?
