When eBay started this hold your funds until your item is authenticated this something new cause I usually get funds released before the authentication process

It's gotta be your join date. My funds usually process within 24-48 hours of the sale for me to cash them out if I want.

has any seller ever lost a package on ebay due to fed ex losing it? if so am i screwed out of my shoes?

If you used the FedEx label printed from eBay, I’m sure there is protection against you, especially since there was movement on the package. What did eBay say when you called them about it?
