These Blue Suede Shoes date from the Bill Clinton Administration, I remember buying them in June, 1998 and the tag says they were made February 4 of that year. They looked fantastic out of the box and for many years thereafter, but as the suede got dirty and faded, they became a workout and then finally, yard-work shoe. After getting drenched mowing a wet lawn on Friday, I decided to put them out of their misery. You can still see a hint of the beautiful Carolina Blue suede color, and structurally, the shoes are still fine, nothing about them ever failed.
When I copped these, nobody had ever heard of Kanye, Beyonce, Barack Obama, Taylor Swift, LeBron James, Tom Brady to say nothing of I-phones and X-boxes. Personally I was six months away from starting a 13-year first marriage and am now 4 years in to a second one, LOL. My 26 year old daughter, now four years out of college with a career, was in second grade!
So much time has passed so I felt these deserved a send-off.
