Why, because I disagree with you?

Exactly.

How are you gonna ask for thoughts, but get offended when someone disagrees?

Like stated, Shaq >> Hakeem

Hakeem swept Shaq in the finals,do not even bring up an argument about Shaq not being in his prime yet because Shaw was still dominant as he put up about 29 and 12 and there was far better competition from big men in that era

I'll agree that those two years of Hakeem's prime were unstoppable.  Can't forget that he outplayed a young shaq easily in the 95 finals as well.

However, you have to consider that Hakeem didn't manage to get back when talent wise they were the best in the west at one point.  They had Barkely, Pippen, Drexler and he never seemed to be able to get over the hump with those guys.  Biggest what-if fron 90's basketball was what would have happened if Hakeem and Jordan met in the final.

So much talent at that position, so its easy for someone to get overlooked.

One of the best to play that position, though.

By time Barkley and Pippen got here everybody was in decline. When Pippen got here Drexler retired. The Jazz had planted themselves as the best team in the West at that time.

Thats not a fair judgment to Hakeem.

Dude, your a Houston homer.  Olajuwon is the same age as Malone.  Those Utah team's weren't exactly full of young dudes themselves. Barkely and Olajuwon were the same exact age as Malone and Stockton.  Those Houston squads were the the Boston Celtics (Garnett, Allen, Ray) before the Boston Celtics.  Hall of fame players getting together later in their career trying to make a run at it.  Those teams under achieved immensely.  In a 4 year span, that team had Drexler, Pippen, Olajuwon and Barkely, at least once they should have been able to get to the finals.  Olajuwon, especially being the best of those bunch takes a hit somewhat for that, don't see how you could deny that.

man hakeem couldnt even guard a third year shaq.

the only reason he put up those numbers on shaq was because houston was aggresively double teaming shaq. EVERYTIME he got the ball.

while hakeem was only gettin double teamed 25% of the time.

so shaq was basically guarding him one on one.

hakeem had no chance against that version of shaq.

had they played single coverage shaq would have averaged 35 ppg

he was only in his 3rd year and still averaged 28 ppg on dream. despite the aggresive double teams.

99-00 shaq would have dismantled hakeem

Yeah we had those guys and Utah was STILL the best team in the West. They had the best record. Malone was the freakin MVP.

I don't see how that is an indictment on Hakeem or his perception, bias or not.

Hakeem was a bad mofo! However, to compare him to Kareem is downright ridiculous. Hakeem's prime was as good as any, and he was a beast when he played with Ralph Sampson when he first entered the league. But he'd learned his post game from Moses Malone, while playing pickup against him when Moses was in Houston and Hakeem was in college.

That said, Moses Malone when he was with the Houston and the Sixers, was better than Hakeem in his prime, and Kareem was better than both of them over the long haul, due to his durability!
