Everytime an artist comes out with a new album, there's always that "It's not better than the firstone" statement. I think that it's always going to be hard to top that first album because I don't think you can capture that hunger that yourfirst album gives you. It could be your first AND last album, so you really have to go all out and establish yourself. If the first one is a success, thenyou give a sigh of relief and get ready for the next one. The subsequent albums you're more relaxed because you've already got past the hard part ofintroducing yourself to the masses. It's like the first day of school where you're nervous the first day meeting everyone but as the days go by youget more relaxed and into the groove of everything, if that makes sense...

My question for you guys is this- can you think of an artist where they have an album which is better than their firstone¿ I'm not talking in sales, but in pure content.

Thanks in advance.

I hope I haven't opened the Jay-Z or Wayne floodgates too much...

Ghostface
Jay-Z
Common
MF Doom
OutKast
Kanye (LR>>CD, IMO)
Eminem.

Mobb Deep comes to mind.
agreed... The Infamous is incredibly better than Juvenile Hell

Common comes to mind as well
yep... but imo, Like Water For Chocolate is his best

Aquemini is Outkast's best album
The Marshall Mathers LP is Em's best album

i think The B. Coming & The Reason are both better than The Truth
Late Registration is better than CD

Ghost topped Ironman with Supreme Clientele
T.I. topped I'm Serious with Trap Muzik
Murs 3:16 is Murs's best album

i think you would have to argue real hard and have incredible points to prove to me that any Jay album is better than Reasonable Doubt... you could argueBlueprint & American Gangster, thats about it imo

Common
TI
Ghostface Killa
Kanye
lil wayne
Cassidy
A tribe called quest( imo midnight marauders is better than low end theory)
Juelz Santana

TLET wasn't their first album. Poeple's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm was.

IMO it's hard to classify one 'Kast album as the best because the sound and content is so different from onealbum to the next. I would classify them as 1a., 1b., etc. instead of 1,2,3...

Outkast, T.I, Gza. & Mobb Deep are the only artists that come to mind

ATLiens >>>>>>>> Southernplayalistic.....

The Infamous >>>>>>> Juvenile Hell.

Trap Muzik >>>>>>>>> I'm serious

Liuid Swords>>>>> Words From The Gza

I'm about to look real out of place, but nobody specified if we were only talking about Rap.

Boyz II Men: II > CooleyHighHarmony

Michael Jackson: Thriller > Off The Wall (not by too much though)
