How do you deal with chapped lips?

It's that time of year when my lips get more chapped than usual and they start to peel and hurt. I've never been a user of chap stick, but I think I'm ready to try it out.

What are some good ones out there?

Rather than picking my lips, how do I get rid of the dead skin?

I just started using chapstick too. I just use a random one stick type one.

Been using blistex medex for about a month now and it still dries my lips out.

I hate when I peel them and they start to bleed.

Not sure what to do.
