Yes you can, and should, ask to see the radar printout. If he didnt have it calibrated you can get the ticket dismissed.

you know they are starting to find ways around this because so many people have been using this excuse?

i know when i got pulled over in 06, i asked for his radar printout he stumbled and said he paced me.

Yea they can calibrate the radar while your standing there,

I know cops who always give tickets if you request a radar check its like you are calling them a liar to their face

lol at having campus police who stop people.. Lol my campus police can't even stop robberies.

I didnt know. I havent been pulled over in over a year, thank god.
If a cop told me that he 'paced me' I'd be heated, since at that point it's his word vs. yours.

yea i would assume it would piss em off.. but since he alrdy gave me a ticket theres nothing else he can do. plus if the radar doesnt say 35 andhe wrote 35 on the ticket he would be caught lying

The calibrations are rarely wrong, most pd's calibrate once a year

Its a farely easy process they just "ping" these to metal rods together in from of the radar and it zero's out

Also was the officer can't use their radars if they are riding beside you, then they use pacing

Most cop cars have radars in the front and the rear of their cars.

The easiest way to be a speeding ticket:

If the officer is new then more than likely he is not radar certified thus his radar readings are not usable in court

Just ask to see his radar certification card, if he gets the idea of what your doing he's just going to say he paced you and then your SOL

so in order to be paced he has to be next to u or see you traveling near other cars? in my situation i think he was parked since i didn't see him. andthere were no other cars around me.

yeah my question too...

If the cop says he's pacing you, ask him if his speedometer is calibrated as well. My pops was doing 80 on a bridge, went to court and fought, cop said hedidn't use the radar but he was pacing him, pop asked the cop if his **** was calibrated, cop said no. Dismissed.

One time they pulled me over a cop went around and stood by my passenger window while the other spoke to me through the drivers side. This is funnyconsidering i'm a 20 year old white hispanic chick who could not look any more preppy if i tried, and i was alone in the car. Did they think i was hidinga gun in my boobage or something?

They were nice about the whole thingthough, and didn't give me the ticket

so i should have asked...

Honestly i think "calling for backup", in some cases, is just a way of rounding up their cop buddies so they have something to do when they'rebored and in the area.

They just wanted to both look at your boobs to see if you were free pass worthy.

A lot of cops call for back up for safety reason you know how many cops have been killed because some jack *%* didn't want a speeding ticket, truth is younever know who you are pulling over its better to be safe than sorry

Pacing is when a officer rides side by side with you to determine your speed, since he can't use his radar
