Since Kawhi is out for next season, I’d like to see if we can swoop Batum for a year. Probably best value at a vet min we can get.
is he really out for the whole year?
Nobody knows but doctors are saying 9 months. Which would put him at a April comeback (playoffs usually start late April). Plus it’s Kawhi who is conservative. Plus it’s an ACL and team may be in 5-9 range of standings so he might just say he isn’t coming back.is he really out for the whole year?
Before the March 25 deadline, the Lakers discussed trade packages with Toronto that centered around Dennis Schroder for Lowry. And Lakers brass are indeed expected to continue searching for another creator in the half court, whether it's Lowry or another ball-handler who can ease the playmaking burden for LeBron James.
With Schroder notably declining the Lakers' four-year, $84 million offer earlier this year, sources confirmed to Bleacher Report, it has opened the door for Los Angeles to explore sign-and-trade opportunities this summer. The point guard appears to be looking for a greater role and a bigger payday, neither of which the Lakers seem willing to provide. Schroder also happens to be the best trade chip Los Angeles holds to upgrade its roster.
League sources expect Chicago and New York to emerge as Schroder suitors, and both could be conducted via sign-and-trade—although Knicks certainly have the cap space to sign him outright. New York will likely have north of $50 million to spend this summer. Meanwhile, Los Angeles continues to gauge rival teams' interest in Kyle Kuzma, sources told B/R, although Schroder does carry a higher trade value around the NBA.
There's really no reason other than being nice for either Chicago or NY to do a sign and trade. They could sign him outright.I wonder what the Lakers would want from Chicago or New York
Chicago and NY won’t trade with us. Makes no sense unless they have a pg they don’t like which they don’t.I wonder what the Lakers would want from Chicago or New York
How do the new nike swingmans fit compared to Mitch & Ness authentics?
I've never had a nike joint.
Imo, DRose and Lavine are the likely targetsI wonder what the Lakers would want from Chicago or New York
Why would Chicago trade Lavine to us when they can outright sign Shroeder?Imo, DRose and Lavine are the likely targets
You got a lot of why's.Why would Chicago trade Lavine to us when they can outright sign Shroeder?
Also isn’t rose a free agent. Why would they do a two way sign and trade.
‘tis the season for random trade suggestions that make 0 sense
Possible to end up with Lowry and DeRozan?
What if....
We do a sign and trade involving Schroder and THT to make the salaries work and go out and get Kyle Lowry whom TOR also agrees to S&T to us.
Then sign Patty Mills and his average of 150 threes the last 6 yrs for the vet minimum.
We then package KCP, Kuzma, and AC Ginobili to SA in a S&T for DeRozan.
We use midlevel exception to add Carmelo or a big, which Pelinka could use on Drummond or perhaps Dwight if he becomes available....add a shooter and veteran like Carmelo Anthony, who still hunting for a ring and playing hungry (he made 133 threes this year at a very respectable 41%.
Trez probably doesn't pick up his PO and bounces.
Maybe we re-sign Kieff and Wes for the minimums if they want to run it back. Maybe we sign a JJ Redick or a Wayne Ellington or Trevor Ariza for the vet minimum
In this scenario I can see Gasol talking himself to stay another year cause he'd be reunited with Lowry.
With some creativity and genius, we could end up being right back in the mix with a roster like
Gasol
AD
LeBron
DeRozan
Lowry
Mills, Ellington, Melo, Matthews, Drummond
Entire roster upgraded with better talent, better shooters, more battle tested veterans, and added two former All-Stars who have a chip on they shoulder and 100% hungry to win their first chip (DeRozan and Melo).
We gonna need more than 2 stars in order to beat BKN next year
Imo, DRose and Lavine are the likely targets
Not giving all that up for DeRozan . Thinking mle at best if it can be doneCertainly possible. I pondered the possibility back in June....
