LaS Vegas Oct. 6-8, what is happening???

I am planning to drive up to Las Vegas from San Diego on October 6th, and I noticed that the room prices skyrocket for this weekend. Anyone know why or what is happening over this weekend? Is it going to be so crowded that I shouldn't even bother? Any info would help. Thanks in advance.

there might be a convention in town...but nothing I can really think of because magic is here and nothing is after that until next year..............oh wait I was wrong...
duh thats the weekend of SEMA... Cant wait to go it will be the @#%$!!

it will be a little busier on the strip but other then that nothing should really be affected by the convention traffic...
