There are also some great Nikes that have no threads or posts talking about them. V-Series seems like a great blast from the past. I would also look at online sneaker shops such as eastbay, nike.com, city-sole.com, or just glance at the LEGIT Website posting and find what you like.
Easy choice if you want what everyone else likes, go to the thread with the most pages.
There's an interesting world outside of lebrons, kobes, and jordans. And NT doesn't necessarily cover everything all too well so be forewarned.

Depends on what you're into. If basketball-Jordans, Kobes, LeBrons, Pennys, Barkleys, Foams, Huarache, Hyperdunk, Hyperfuse, etc. Running-Air Max 90, 95, 2009,2010, 2011, etc. Casual-Air Force Ones, Dunks, Terminators, Delta Forces, etc there are other good shoes from other brands outside of Nike/Jordan for example,Adidas has the AdiRose 1.5, which in my opinion is a really cool shoe. Like I said what you want to get out of a shoe, or what you want to use a shoe for.

BOTH are legit consignment shops with various Nike's... they both show (especially flightclub) variety in Nike's and maybe you'll find one in your size... that's how I started.. seeing what has already happened, then started looking into what drops in the future (via NT, SC, Sneakernews).... also, if you follow @nikestore and @sneakernews on twitter they always update what's new or what's coming out.. convenient to look at when you're on the go and not able to check the forums (via phone)...

are you into Nike SB Dunk's at all? that is probably still my favorite everyday type shoe, the extra padding from their function for skateboarding makes them comfortable and matchable with a wide array of clothing
