Posting a video about Jordan Brand brainwashing consumers into zombies that will buy anything they put out or that people let material things run their life is like posting a video about masturbating being bad on a porn site. Most people on here will say the concept of the song is corny because it makes them feel like the losers they really are for sitting in front of Niketown for 3 days for a limited edition piece of leather with rubber on the bottom
THIS

You can't say this (or agree with it) with any sort of certainty

Btw, I've never camped out for anything.

So lame.  It's nowhere near as serious as he made it out to be

exactly...

not knockin his passion but, for somethin as trivial as sneakers he def shoulda chilled the f out a lil bit

songs about sneakers are soooooo corny @ this point anyway. specially since everyones a damn "sneakerhead" these days...

You guise are missing the point, it's not about sneakers but how addicted we get from wanting to cop. Last time I
checked, someone getting killed over something as trivial as sneakers is an issue if you ask me. A serious one we
as a sneaker community need to address.

I feel the message of the video 100%. Although I'm not all that a fan of his flow, I think the whole point of this was really to show how brainwashed Nike/JB got folks, which he managed to proficiently showcase. As much as many NTers won't admit, they got influenced by the hype at one point or another, including me. I'm just glad I woke up from that before it got real ugly.

I feel like this really could have all be avoided by buying what you like and not generating all that hype back in 2001, but at this point I think it's really too late. The damage is done.

i dont wear jordans but i can relate, looked kind of cool seeing so much kids with different Jordans on some of yall are reaching. tho

It doesn't matter if you haven't camped out, (you're avoiding the issue) everyone except for the people I quoted above and a few others who posted after I did (TeflanDon especially), really can't seem to comprehend Macklemore's message about Nike's brainwashing of this generation and how we, as consumers, actually can get past that and move on from Nike (understanding their real motives; PROFIT) instead of consumers believing the hype and still fiending after every garbage shoe JB and Nike put out)......Based on the comments in this thread, even from older members, it still seems like Nike "has you" and to me it seems as though you really haven't learned anything about how Nike singlehandedly exploited a hobby and now control the hobby for it's own personal gain (money).......by you not acknowledging the message of this song, you're no better than the girl at the end with a bunch of CDPs, what I mean is that you fail to realize that JB/ Nike have you in their grasp and are just milking the hell out of you for money. Sure I'm sure some of you have complained about quality etc, but I'm also sure that some of you still buy that trash they call Jordans. Again, go learn your sneaker culture history and how Nike messed up what was once an underground hobby once it found out that it could exploit the current generation by artificially limiting runs on certain pairs and ultimately creating a myth of exclusivity, where multiple stores in an area carry a shoe so they really aren't exclusive, and how Nike entices heads by at first limiting runs, then once they have HBs who will buy no matter what, Nike mass produces the line and kills the exclusivity/ demand of that shoe.

I'm glad that Macklemore came out with this song because at least that gives me hope that more than just a few of us can get past and out of reach of the powerful hand of Nike.

QFT, my thoughts exactly.

lol @ this dude trying to "preach" by typing long texts, making the font size as big as it can get, and changing the color of the text for exclamation...not that serious.
If people want to spend their money on Nike/Jordan kicks, then let them do them...regardless if they're under Nike or Jordan Brand's "grasp."

Word.  He's shouting because he doesn't have substance.
Almost everything he said was a reach or an assumption about people he doesn't know. Comical
