The contenders…

RB Derrick Locke: Kentucky
Was said to run in the low 4.2 range at Kentucky’s pro day last year.

RB Noel Devine: West Virginia
If healthy mid 4.3 is a distinct possibility.

WR Titus Young: Boise State
The one guy on tape who simply looked faster than anyone else on the field. Would be shocked if he doesn’t run in the 4.3 range.

WR Edmund Gates: Abilene Christian
A small school prospect with the type of second gear to consistently get behind defenses.

CB Patrick Peterson: LSU
Ran a hand-held 4.20 40 at LSU’s Spring Conditioning last May.

CB Rashad Carmichael: Virginia Tech
Recorded the 5th fastest 40 time in Virginia Tech history at 4.26.

WR Torrey Smith: Maryland
Can never sleep on a Maryland wide out.

CB DeMarcus Van ****: Miami
Torrey Smith said he’s going to run fast at the NFL Combine, but Van **** –who he has been training with- is even faster.

The Favorite…

WR Ricardo Lockette: Fort Valley State
A former 100-meter National Champion who is said to be able to crack 4.3

LOL.

Newton, Kaepernick, Locker, Mallett, Dalton, Stanzi and Ponder will all throw @ the combine.

Gabbert, @ least as of now, will not.

I think if Cam Newton is available for us (49ers) at the #7 spot we have got to take our chances.. Then again it is the 49ers, we'll probably take a punter or something.
