An owner who consistently mortgaged the future with poor contracts and underperforming players, while refusing to allow a capable defense to develop under a real defensive coordinator. Al Davis' desperation to have another winner "his way" in his golden years created the situation we've been in for the past decade. We just have to take heart in knowing that now that he's passed, we can see a good team come together in time.
