man im still waiting on them Lacrosse Chrome vapors

i think a lot of people would be happy with the "chrome look" of the PE cleats, as opposed to actually having their spikes dipped in precious metals.

you cannot tell me it is hard to get this affect via metallic paints.

if youre telling me that it costs $250 to take your cleats to a chrome shop to get dipped, that makes perfect sense. but i refuse to believe the reason for not mass producing the chrome bottoms is cost. thats bullsshhh.

metal spikes are forbidden in most leagues anyway... so i question how "chrome" the cleats are to begin with.

its like video recording and MMS on the iphone. they could make it happen with a little effort, but theyd rather just withhold it until you forget and then sell it to you as something new and exciting.

still looking forward to seeing those chrome lacrosse vapors in action. those things are beautiful.

I got the all chrome 4.2 vapors last season, and I find it odd it could be that much given that it's just a coating (a lot of mine has chipped off over a 1 year period) too.  Esp I know nike likes to showcase things, but if they cost $250 to produce, there's no way they woulda sold them for $140.

I like those lacrosse ones, but still tough to beat the full chromed out oregon look - something just smooth about it.

i was talking about the cost of producing one cleat at a time with the "chrome" finish. the finish is not metal but it is called vacuum metalizing. here is a link to a company that does this. http://www.muellercorp.com/

The $250 is the cost for full custom for only about 40 players. The Chrome 4.2's were "limited" but still available to the masses. Nike could very well sell every one of their cleats with chrome bottoms for just a few more dollars. there is a cost each time they have to chrome one pair, so it is cheaper to do to the masses. Also, the bottom plate needs to be "chromed" before it is actually applied to the shoe. That is why it probably wont be an option for any NikeID cleats.

For Example, The chrome lacrosse vapors and huaraches are selling for more than their regular model. The vapors are $10 more and the huaraches are $15.

Interesting - I realized I misspoke when you mentioned the $250 cost was for one team, so obv they can produce them at higher numbers for a lower cost.  I wondered if it was done by vacuum metallizing, but once I saw how easily mine chipped off, I figured it was just some coating that was inexpensive.  I'm not familiar with the process, beyond what I've read, but I thought that vacuum metallizing would've been a bit more durable.  Thanks for the info though, sounds pretty specific.

I say Cutters are best universal gloves. Nike NFL gloves are good but then arent very durable, I've had the tack peel off the gloves. Cutters that never happens.
