NT....school me on visiting toronto

Visiting toronto next month. Hoping heads can give me the lowdown on spots to visit while I'm in town for a family reunion. Some good retaraunts, shoppingspots, bars/clubs, all of it, even museums. Any and all reccomendations welcome.
Should I exchange currency? BTW I'll be stayin in brampton. Close enough to the city?
Heard so much good about toronto so I wanna experience it as a traveler, not a tourist. Thanks for any help.
