Alright, Amar'e is officially a certified lame...

Check out his twitter page: http://twitter.com/Amareisreal

If you don't have twitter, he has posted a link to his dunk 4 separate times saying it's one of the greatest dunks of All Time and also has stills of the dunk as his background now.

Sorry I don't have all the love for Amare that everyone else does.  IMO dude should be a 30 and 12 monster, EVERY night.  Every single one.  Then I watch him go out and get guarded by Pau all night, and I don't even worry for a second about it.  If you think about it, that speaks volumes on Amare.  Dude should be lickin his damn chops.  Thas all I'm sayin.  IMO he doesn't go after it enough.  As Mike himself said a few weeks ago, it's hilarious to see him go off for 40+ and get 7 rebounds.

But Mike musta forgot sayin that.  *shrugs*

who claims their dunk is one of the best of all time? im not discrediting the dunk or anything it was a hell of a dunk but c'mon i dont even remember one player saying their dunk is one of the best of all time...he dunked on a d-league player

CP is right. you don't "figure it out" all of a sudden in a contract year right after you almost got traded. he's playing for a contract and he will revert to his old self unless he's in the playoffs or has a superstar to make him play every night in and out

Flip didn't sound too happy with Blatche. Said that's the most disappointed he's ever been in a player.

DALLAS -- Center Brendan Haywood came off the bench for the first time since making his Dallas Mavericks debut, and he didn't seem happy about his reserve role in the team's victory against the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night.

"I just work here," Haywood said after the Mavericks' 106-96 victory.

Coach Rick Carlisle said he made the decision to start Erick Dampier because Dampier had played well against All-Star center Chris Kaman earlier in the season. Carlisle also said his starting center could vary each night.

"They are a team," Carlisle said of Dampier and Haywood.

Haywood, who had averaged only 5.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in the previous four games, came off the bench against the Clippers and scored 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting, snatched 10 rebounds and blocked four shots in 30 minutes.

"Haywood delivered in a big way," Carlisle said. "The fact that he's playing great kept him on the court."

Dampier played 18 minutes, grabbing six rebounds and scoring three points on 1-of-5 shooting. The Clippers' Kaman finished with 22 points and nine rebounds.

Haywood said he didn't use his reserve role as a motivational spark.

"Not really," the usually loquacious Haywood said after a long pause, before repeating, "I just work here."

Haywood, who came to the Mavericks as part of a seven-player trade with the Washington Wizards during the All-Star break, made it clear earlier this week that he's not interested in starting a controversy over playing time.

Dampier missed 12 games with an open dislocation of his right middle finger, suffered during the first game back from the All-Star break. Haywood had kept the starting job after Dampier's return -- until Tuesday night.

"I'm not fighting for minutes," Haywood said after Monday's practice. "We're fighting for a championship.

"Losing teams have competitions between players for playing time. That's what we were doing in D.C. That's losing basketball. We're competing to win a championship. It comes down to, if I'm bringing it, [Dampier's] going to support me. If he's bringing it, I'm going to support him."

Haywood got into three fights with ex-Wizards teammate Etan Thomas while they were competing for playing time. Haywood and Dampier have developed a friendly relationship.

"Coach dictates the minutes," Haywood said Monday. "That's his job. In Washington, [coach Eddie Jordan] made it known it was an open competition. This isn't a competition.

"[Jordan] felt like that competition fueled the team. It was actually terrible for the team. This is more along the lines of, whoever is playing the best, put him in the game and let's try to get something done."

Tim MacMahon covers the Mavericks for ESPN Dallas. You can follow him on Twitter or leave a question for his weekly mailbag.

WASHINGTON -- It's the last thing a bad team on a long losing streak needs -- a tantrum and a boycott from a young player who was just starting to put up some good numbers.

Andray Blatche was benched after the first 7½ minutes of the Washington Wizards' 95-86 overtime loss to the Charlotte Bobcats on Tuesday night.

Coach Flip Saunders said Blatche didn't want to listen when the coach tried to talk to him about playing better defense.

"He didn't want to hear it," Saunders said. "I told him, 'If you don't come and talk, if you don't want to be coached, you're not going to play.' We had coaches go up to him three different times, they said he didn't want to play. Fifteen years, never seen anything like it.

"He can be [mad] at me, whatever, but you never leave your teammates out to dry like that. Not when you've lost 11 games in a row and you've got a chance to win a game. Uncalled-for. We'll deal with it," Saunders said.

Asked if Blatche will play in Wednesday night's game at Indiana, Saunders said: "I would doubt it. I don't know, but I would doubt it."

Blatche was not made available for comment. He had left the Wizards' locker room by the time it was opened to reporters.

Blatche had become the team's go-to scorer following the suspension of Gilbert Arenas and the deals that sent Antawn Jamison, Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood elsewhere before the trade deadline last month. Inconsistent, often undisciplined and slow to mature over his first 4½ NBA seasons, Blatche moved into the starting lineup by default and had been averaging 23.2 points and 9.4 rebounds since the All-Star break. Washington, however, has lost 12 straight.

Ironically, his spat came on the day the Wizards issued a flier touting Blatche as a candidate for the league's most improved player.

"You know what I'm disappointed in?" Saunders said. "I'm disappointed that since we've started him, he gets 60 percent of the offense run through him. Coaches aren't wrong, no matter what. When a coach wants to teach you something, and you think you're above that, because you've played 16 games, good games? I had Kevin Garnett, that guy you could say one thing, he's up there, 'What do you want, Coach? I want to get better every time.' He never copped that type of attitude. That's ridiculous, it really is."

Saunders also said Blatche has lost the credibility of his teammates.

"Dray's still a young player, and he'll go through things like that," guard Nick Young said. "It's a disappointing situation from both ends. We really could've used Dray tonight. I told him, 'You're playing well -- you don't want to mess it up.' ... You've got to man up sometimes."
Sixth Man of the Year Watch
165.jpg

Crawford

Editor's note: Last week's Sixth Man Watch rankings were written by Tim Legler.

1. Jamal Crawford, Hawks: It may have taken 10 seasons, but he is finally playoff-bound. After averaging just 15.1 points per game in February, he is having his best scoring month of the season in March, dropping in over 21 per outing.

2. Anderson Varejao, Cavs: Andy has been Cleveland's second-most important player all season. It will be interesting to see what happens to the high-energy defensive specialist's minutes once Zydrunas Ilgauskas rejoins the club.

3. Jason Terry, Mavs: He scored 24 points, including the 1,500th 3-pointer of his NBA career, in the Mavs' loss to the Hornets. He is currently 12th all-time in made triples.

4. J.R. Smith, Nuggets: His ability to take over games in the fourth quarter prevents opponents from simply locking down on Chauncey Billups and Carmelo Anthony.

5. Lamar Odom, Lakers: He would be a full-time starter on just about every other team in the league, and now with Andrew Bynum out, he gets his chance in L.A. He is currently averaging the fewest points per game in his 11-year career.
Rookie of the Year Watch
3983.jpg

Evans

1. Tyreke Evans, Kings: A concussion is the only thing that has slowed down the rookie of the year favorite. Evans has missed two games but is expected to return Friday. (Last week: 1)

2. Stephen Curry, Warriors: After missing two games with an ankle injury, the sharpshooter is back in the Golden State lineup. However, his production has been down since returning. (Last week: 2)

3. Brandon Jennings, Bucks: I don't want to hear anything about ROY being an individual award and team success not counting. Jennings has a lot more on the line every time he steps on the court than the other top candidates. And by the way, he did just drop 35 points and eight assists on Mr. Evans. (Last week: 4)

4. Darren Collison, Hornets: I wonder how many fantasy basketball owners faced the dilemma of whether or not to put Collison in their lineup knowing Chris Paul's return means a drop in his production. (Last week: 3)

5. Marcus Thornton, Hornets: The big scorer has reached double digits in 19 straight games. A healthy CP3 can only mean good things statistically for Thornton. (Last week: 5)
Coach of the Year Watch
300286.jpg

Brooks

1. Scott Brooks, Thunder: This list is filled with coaches of teams that are big surprises or had to overcome a lot of adversity. There are a ton of coaches who don't crack the top five -- Atlanta's Mike Woodson, Utah's Jerry Sloan, Houston's Rick Adelman -- who are having fine seasons. But despite a recent slide, Brooks has OKC far exceeding expectations. (Last week: 1)

2. Scott Skiles, Bucks: Speaking of exceeding expectations, Milwaukee is nine games over .500, riding a three-game win streak and currently fifth in the Eastern Conference playoff race. (Last week: 2)

3. Nate McMillan, Blazers: Here is one person who thinks Nate should win this award. (Last week: 3)

4. Lionel Hollins, Grizzlies: Memphis has turned the corner this season, going from cellar-dwellers to playoff contenders. The Grizzlies are just four games behind the Blazers for the final playoff spot in the West, but only have 11 games left to play. (Last week: 5)

5. Larry Brown, Bobcats: It would be a shame if, after all the success Charlotte has had this season, it let Chicago, which has won two straight while the Bobcats have dropped two in a row, somehow get the last playoff spot in the East. (Last week: 4)

Haywood, "I just work here"

Dallas fans, did I ask a few weeks ago if the team would have even a small issue with getting a solid rotation going once all the players were back healthy, and expecting minutes?  (i.e Dampier)  And didn't you all tell me it was ridiculous to even think it would be a problem?

Must be somethin else I'm wrong about.

6th, Jamal.
COY: i wouldnt have a problem with either Skiles, Rick Aldermen, or Larry Brown (in that order).
ROY: Reke for sure, although i believe Curry would have won it if Monta wasnt there & they had a different coach. jus' saying.

As Mike himself said a few weeks ago, it's hilarious to see him go off for 40+ and get 7 rebounds.

But Mike musta forgot sayin that.  *shrugs*
go back to the 1st time we have talked about amare and i have said the same thing

he is a GREAT offense player when he plays with effort and has his mind right. but he puts no effort on D and doesnt crash the boards

Amare on a team with bron, wade or another superstar leader already and he will be just fine because they will keep him in check. you pay him to be the number 1 on a trash team then it will be just amare scoring and him doing nothing else

just look at the suns best team amare was what 26 and 10 and just a god damn monster night in and night out.

^
Exactly, you have said the same thing, so why are you arguing against me this time?
laugh.gif
laugh.gif

I'd ask you, would you yourself be happy if he was a Bull next year with Rose, would you think he would carry you to something that matters?  Not the first round, not 2nd round, but more?  Would you feel comfortable and confident in him?

Hence the basis of my "hate" towards him.  To me he isn't much different then AI, Webber, Artest, etc etc.  Guys that have these great reps, but really don't deliver on what their rep is.

See what happens this offseason.  Maybe in the right situation he'll shut me up.  Just another interesting subplot to the summer.

You're taking it out of context, as is that report.

"I'm not fighting for minutes," Haywood said after Monday's practice. "We're fighting for a championship.

"Losing teams have competitions between players for playing time. That's what we were doing in D.C. That's losing basketball. We'recompeting to win a championship. It comes down to, if I'm bringing it,[Dampier's] going to support me. If he's bringing it, I'm going tosupport him."

That's what I took the quote as.

But no, no line-up issues right now, and if there is, it's the BACK-COURT, definitely not the front-court.

I agree, no excuse for JJ Barea to even still be alive anymore and especially to give him minutes and not Roddy against guys like Rondo (I was in Dallas during that game and heard it on the radio)

Haywood hadn't played well since he came back from the back issue so they started Dampier for a night...

Dampier played 18 minutes, Haywood played 30... Haywood can say it didn't motivate him, but he played better last night than he had in a couple of weeks... He'll start the next game and the rest of the season and continue to take on a heavier work load than Dampier throughout the rest of the season.

I don't care. It's overblown. Pat yourself on the back, though.
