There is no best-case scenario when a star player goes on the disabled list, but the Dodgers could be welcoming star outfielder Andre Ethier back to the lineup a lot sooner that expected.

According to Bill Shaikin of the LA Times, Ethier, out since May 14 with a broken little finger, could return to the lineup as soon as Sunday, when he is eligible to come off the disabled list.

The Dodgers had projected Ethier would sit out up to six weeks, but Shaikin reports that a custom splint allows Ethier to swing with authority and without discomfort. Ethier would wear the splint when he returns.

With Ethier sidelined, Xavier Paul has received the bulk of the playing time in right field. Ethier would return to a team that won 12 of 13 games before dropping its last two.
