GGG should have just tried to knock Canelo out. Boxing politics aren’t gonna let you get a decision against him unless you out class him like Floyd.

But wasn’t Haymon supposed to be da man to sign with?
Nope, he’s trash. Son blew through 500M and only had like 5 good fights
Pac went from bad to worse

So is HBO dropping boxing a sign of UFC surpassing boxing in popularity or nah?

I don’t think HBO dropping the sport really has anything to do with it’s popularity.

ESPN and FOX have just recently invested in the sport at a significant level, and live content rights are more valuable then they ever have been.

I just think in 2018 HBO sees platforms like Netflix, and Hulu as their competitors now and the powers that be at HBO don’t see boxing as something that can help them compete with those platforms.

a boxer just got the biggest contract in sports history. McGregor had to crossover into the squared circle to generate the biggest purse and ppv buys any mma fighter has ever made.

Boxing aint going anywhere. If anything there are far more outlets for boxing now than theres ever been

IMO it has to do with HBO marketing itself as a "premium" service/image. Back when HBO was the only place to see fights it was the only outlet, but now with so many streams and other ways to get the content it's no longer that premium service it once was.

Didn't HBO drop boxing after they got bought?

AT&T seems to want to make HBO into a service to revival Netflix. So boxing might not have fit with its vision.

Yea, as soon as rumors of the merger started to leak, HBO's budget for it started tightening up and that was when they still had TR under the fold.

The writing has been on the wall for a while.
