no one not named ronaldinho can do what he did on the pitch. he needed a better circle around him. his agent/father really let him down. with better guidance, he would’ve reached all the expectations

he’ll still be regarded highly. the numbers speak for themselves but in the end he will serve as a cautionary tale to younger players.

People can’t blame him for PSG lack of European success. They had a trident of Neymar, Messi and Mbappe and still couldn’t do it. The club itself is directionless . He is both a Barca and PSG legend.

Got enough talent everywhere else to challenge but none of that means anything if your defense isn't rock solid.
 
Neymar should have had next, but that move to PSG turned it all sideways. Glad Mbappe is getting out of there
 
mbappe is gonna become a free agent and squeeze the hell out of either psg or madrid

gonna be interesting how much madrid are willing to pay
 
Neymar probably should be considered a PSG legend but I dont think he will cause he's always had an iffy relationship with their supporters. Not saying they're right but it is what it is.

I agree with this generally but Neymar different, he was another breed.

He was probably the most hyped up prospect of all time. Guys like Messi and CR7 developed their way into the superstars they became, Neymar was already a superstar as a teenager though.

His highlights from Santos in Brazil were on Sportscenter and Western media regularly and he was already included in worldwide ad campaigns.

Had Brazilian greats and legends left and right including Pele calling him a future GOAT and the best talent Brazil ever produced (!!!).

Even the chase for his signature in Europe was madness and he was unofficially the most expensive player ever at the time when he went to Barca with much of his fee going under the books/table.

He truly was the rightful heir to the Messi/CR7 throne as the best player in the world but for a variety of reasons, never fully reached the heights that were expected and set out for him from a young age. A lot of that might've been his own making with some of the decisions that were made but a lot of it was out of his hands when it came to injuries and circumstances (emergence of Mbappe and his signing with P$G a year after he joined)

He's absolutely been one of the best players in the world his whole career but he was really destined to be the clear cut guy once Ron and Messi got to the later stages of their careers in Europe. With those expectations, ending his career without one Ballon D'Or or World Cup is unfortunately gonna paint his career/legacy as a disappointment for the majority of fans and people in the game.

It's unfair but that's the sort of promise and ceiling that he showed from the jump, we haven't seen that level of a prospect before or after tbh.
 
As much as he might not mess with him, Neymar is definitely a cautionary tale for Mbappé to look at and move accordingly over...

The sky was the limit for Neymar at one point, the sky is still the limit for Mbappe rn. Wherever he decides to spend his prime is gonna go a long way towards shaping how he'll come to be remembered long after he's done.

He's already one of the greatest names in French football ever, it's about time to build something outside of France...
 
He reportedly gave up his bonuses today worth 100-150 million, so he can stay in the team and become a free agent, now if he re-signs. That's gotta be it, it's pretty clear RM & PSG will not negotiate with each other. He'll go to Arsenal or Chelsea or whatever.
 
As long as Neymar breaks Pele’s Brazil record he’ll be alright
That’s one of the best records to have imo
