Any tips on making self-composed stuff sound less cheesy/fake? I'm using Logic Pro with a MDI controller. I've tried all the filters, compression, EQ, reverb, etc... still sounds fake

Might be a little late but Layering + Mastering can change a tune completelyAny tips on making self-composed stuff sound less cheesy/fake? I'm using Logic Pro with a MDI controller. I've tried all the filters, compression, EQ, reverb, etc... still sounds fake
Might want to look into buying VST Plugins. Learning more music theory helps a lot too, I've seen some basic sounds come out nice because the melodies were stacked right. sonunox34

That's tight. All them knobs confusing IRL though, at least for me. Went to Guitarcenter and was playing with this synth they had and didn't know what the hell I was doing lol.
would yall rather be touring off your beats like Skrillex and Cashmere Cat (essentially an artist yourself) or getting mad placements
I always wonder why Cashmere Cat isnt the most sought after producer in urban/pop music but then you turn around and see how crazy a Young Chop beat gets the crowd, but he doesn't do the tours where his beats are the main attraction like Skrillex/Cashmere/etc.
Man... I really can't give any advice to someone starting right now. Started with orchestral percussion in like 5th grade, then moved to drumline, then drumset... one thing that people swear by is practicing with a metronome. I guess my advice would be to find a teacher again, that should help you improvise off of a standard beat.
