OFFICIAL LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 2024-2025 SEASON THREAD

^^^ He's still under contract with the Knicks, right? Or did they buy him out?

Still with the Knicks. Had such a bad season last year. I've never been a fan of his as a player (Still not) but he definitely works hard, and is a great guy

In case you guys need some background on who Danillo is as a player, and why the Clips can be sneaky good *if healthy. He's one of the reasons

I didn't think Mike Smith was the best analyst, but he definitely has good chemistry with Ralph. I haven't heard much of Bruce "Face Kicker" Bowen's commentary, so I'm not sure how I feel about him. Glad it's not Reggie though. That's for sure.

And I like Jeanne Zelasko. Koh was ok, but nothing special.

No more Oh Me oh My :frown:

I was in the minority but I loved them two together

Am I trippin or isn't it Ralph that says that? Michael Smith was a homer but Im gonna miss him. I can't see Bowen NOT being trash but at least we dodged Reggie

Yeah def meant to put 'no more settle down mike smith' lol

I wonder what happened?

Yeah. Thought the same thing when I saw that tweet. Doesn't seem a very Ballmer move for him to say, "you know we really need some new blood in the announcing crew. Let's dump a guy who's been around for 20 years for Bruce Bowen." Something weird must have happened.

My guess is that ralph will retire in about a year or two so with Mike's contract being up after last season they decided to start the phasing in of a new broadcast crew by not bringing back Mike. Idk though, very left field.

lawdog1 lawdog1 There's also this

Los Angeles Clippers announcer Mike Smith was acquitted of grand theft today in a case resulting from his failure to repay a $735,000 loan to a close friend.

An Orange County jury took about two hours to return its verdict.

“I’m relieved, obviously, but mostly I’m just grateful to the judge and jury who saw to it (that) the truth came out,’ Smith said. “This was a very difficult thing to go through for me and my family.’

Smith failed to repay the loan from his late friend, Bill Steinriede, to help finance a failed real estate deal in Dana Point.

“The debt was never really an issue,’ said Smith’s attorney, **** Huish. “It was whether he was a thief. And I don’t care what the district attorney says, they were wrong and the jury backed me up.’

What was at issue was whether Smith ever intended to repay the loan when he signed a contract with Steinriede. Deputy District Attorney George McFetridge contended that Smith knew he could not pay back the loan and went through with it anyway.

But the jury accepted Huish’s argument that it was a business deal that no one could have known would go south.

Apparently that was in 2010 so it probably had nothing to do with him being let go but I still didn't hear about this until now :lol

Ah, I didnt know his contract expired after last season. Maybe he was looking for the seniority pay raise and the team didn't go for it. I could see that.

Yea, he's a scumbag lowkey. There were also reports of him scamming old folks out of money a few years back  :smh:

Guess a local TV announcer salary isn't enough to support 15 kids or however many he has...

LOL. Nobody is talking about us as a possible landing spot, so I think you're good. Going to be one of the Super Friends teams - OKC or CLE or maybe Miami.

I feel sorry for anyone who gets him right now. He's just worthless at this point in terms of contributing towards winning. 35, never shot 3's, still doesn't shoot any 3's, and his free throw rate last season was at a career low. He also doesn't guard anymore.

There is nothing that he brings that would make it worth it IMO. Maybeeee if we didn't have lou will and he wanted to come off the bench. Maybe. But that's the extent of it.

“I’m down to 184 lbs. and five percent body fat,” Beverley said. “Two years ago, I was at 217 lbs. and last year I was at 195 lbs. I’m just continuing to change my body each year and I’m super excited. I’m steadily trimming down and trimming down so I can be as light as possible, while also staying as strong as possible. I feel like I’m in the best shape of my life. I’ve never been in this great of shape. Ever. I think this is a great opportunity for me to go out there and prove some people wrong and have fun doing it. The same goes for our team. We’ve all really been pushing ourselves conditioning-wise because we all want to take our game to another level."

“I’ve been working a lot on being more comfortable with the ball [in my hands], being able to finish in the paint and shooting off of the dribble,” he said. “I’ve been working with Sam Cassell a lot. Of course, I’ve been working my with my trainer Jeff Pagliocca in Chicago at Evolution Athletic a lot; I’ve been working with him over the last three or four years of my career. Most of my improvement has come from my work with him. I know I’ll be on the ball more, so I’m adding things to my game like the mid-range shot and the step-back. Houston didn’t like a lot of mid-range shots or step-back shots, but the Clippers allow me to take them, so I’m getting more comfortable with those.”
