Official Los Angeles Dodgers Season Thread: NLCS vs Phillies

schmitty and brown took 200 million from us and we got maybe 25 starts out of the both of them.. i know for sure schmitty had 6 total.

stuff like this puts us back for years.. i heard brown still has use of the company airplane for personal use.. what a waste of our money.

Hope they can get the W today........
I might make some arrangements to catch the game live

^ nice. If i was still in Tucson I'd definitely have made it up to see a game this series. Oh well, guess I'll have to settle for a trip to the stadiumthis coming week.

As for Schmidt, they might as well cut him. He can't get healthy, and if he is, he wouldn't be effective. Just cut bait. Brown was hurt an awful lot,but at least when he was healthy he pitched well, and the Weaver/Brazoban trade was pretty good for us.

Dodgers have signed Pablo Ozuna who was DFA by the White Sox. As a result to clear roster space, Luis Maza has been DFA.

Ozuna like Maza is a utility infielder, but a slightly better hitter.

and just like yesterday's game, the first inning is where we lose the game.

Nomar couldn't tag out the runner, and D. Lowe isn't making things any better.

I can't even be that mad. Losing to Haren and Webb is something almost every team in the majors would do.

That win was HUUUUUGEEE.

Tied for 1st in the NL West. Colorado, Washington and San Francisco to come. We can really get on a roll here if things go well
Dodgers Sign Ozuna, DFA Maza, Look To Stay Active
By Steve Adams [July 20 at 4:14pm CST]

Ken Gurnick from MLB.com writes that the Dodgers signed veteran utility player Pablo Ozuna today. The White Sox designated Ozuna for assignment on July 8 to make room for Paul Konerko when he returned from the DL. He elected to become a free agent after clearing waivers. Ozuna had posted a mediocre line of .281/.313/.328 in 69 plate appearances for the White Sox this year.

Luis Maza was designated for assignment to make room for Ozuna, Gurnick writes. Maza was called up as a quick shortstop fix earlier in the year, but had posted an abyssmal .228/.278/.282 line through 79 ABs with the Dodgers.

Manager Joe Torre refers to Ozuna as a "safety net" at three positions, and also expects the Dodgers to continue to be active over the next 10 days:
"I know Ned [Colletti, general manager] is on the phone, trying to make our club better," Torre said. "Chances are, we'll be active. Having said that, we're trying."

Gurnick mentions that the Dodgers are hesitating to bring pinch-hitting specialist Mark Sweeney off the DL, perhaps signaling that an additional move is near on the horizon. General Manager Ned Coletti said that with shortstop options limited in Rafael Furcal's absence, his desire to acquire a run-producing third baseman would intensify.

Personal speculation: Adrian Beltre is available, and the Twins look to have thrown in the towel on their attempt to acquire him, but the asking price there is quite high. Minnesota could still offer competition to the Dodgers in an attempt to acquire a third baseman. Here's a look at the third base market.

Casey Blake's name has been tossed around with the Dodgers. Hank Blalock could be another option, if he can remain healthy and return to his old self. His great run from 2003-2005 seems like a long time ago at this point, but a turnaround would be a tremendous boost to the Dodgers' lineup.

series win against the snakes, I will take that. Although the ninthinning had me sweating a bit.

I hope they don't make a panic move. What we need is someone to solidify our bench. No one out there sounds enticing enough to get.

Jason Bay - Pass
Xavier Nady - Pass
Jack Wilson - Pass
Pitching - Pass

If Broxton struggles and Huston Street is available at a discount rate, then make a run at him. However, I want to see the youth movement continue.

YES, 2 out of 3 in AZ, and in dramatic fashion.

I expected Matt Kemp to strike out of fly out, but my dude hit a game tying RBI double, and then scored the go ahead run.

Also an interesting note, Andy LaRoche is playing all 3 games at Coors and Vin Scully hinting at possibly showcasing him ... makes sense
