Westbrook and world peace are two different kind of players tho. Will Westbrook be able to explode off his knee right after surgery without tearing it again?

Artest was supposed to be out six weeks. The finals starts in 5-6 weeks. Should be enough time for a dude like him to recover 100%. His ligaments are intact so it probably shouldn't be a problem.

He was bound to get hurt at some point, it's just terrible it happened in the playoffs. That streak was getting up there..

I know people are already saying "Let's see what KD is like without Russ"... I expect he'll struggle  Wouldn't any team struggle losing their 2nd best player and point guard and no immediate way of replacing him? If you replaced him with an above average "pass first" PG then yeah.. then you can see how Durant does without him.

Just sucks... I don't think they were beating the Heat anyway, short of KD and Russ going unconscious and dropping 80 combined.. but I'll miss Russ playing when it matters most.

The thunder are still a good team without Westbrook. Why should Durant struggle?

I just remembered Durant's SI interview

Durant has hired his own analytics expert. He tailors workouts to remedy numerical imbalances. He harps on efficiency more than a Prius dealer. To Durant, basketball is an orchard, and every shot an apple. “Let’s say you’ve got 40 apples on your tree,” Durant explains. “I could eat about 30 of them, but I’ve begun limiting myself to 15 or 16. Let’s take the wide-open three and the post-up at the nail. Those are good apples. Let’s throw out the pull-up three in transition and the step-back fadeaway. Those are rotten apples. The three at the top of the circle — that’s an in-between apple. We only want the very best on the tree.”

No team is beating the Heat anyway. I feel bad for Russ..that one play was the first thing I saw when I turned my tv on and dude was PISSED! Like he knew it already..

It seems after ever time Wade has a terrible game,

"Oh, I'm not 100 %." comes flyin' out of his mouth.

Thunder guard Russell Westbrook to have knee surgery, return this season uncertain- Adrian Wojnarowski

Oklahoma City point guard Russell Westbrook has suffered a slight cartilage tear in his right knee and a surgical procedure in the next 48 hours will determine the possibility of his return before the end of the playoffs.

Westbrook suffered the tear of his lateral meniscus in the second quarter of Game 2 of the Thunder's first-round playoff series with the Houston Rockets after Rockets guard Patrick Beverley lunged at Westbrook to make a steal as the Thunder guard signaled for a timeout.

Russell Westbrook has previously never missed a game in his five-year NBA career. (AP)Westbrook is "irate," with Beverley, a league source told Yahoo! Sports.

The meniscus tear is considered to be minimal – perhaps 2 percent of the meniscus, one source said – and Westbrook's recovery could be weeks instead of months, if the doctor decides to simply "clean up" the meniscus. A full repair of the meniscus would likely mean a three-month recovery for Westbrook.

The Thunder and Westbrook don't want to risk anything with the long-term stability of his knee, sources said, and aren't pushing for the short-term solution over the longer-term procedure.

Westbrook, 24, is an All-Star and one of the league's top point guards. His absence is a severe blow to the Thunder's chances of repeating as Western Conference champions.

The Thunder hold a 2-0 series lead over the Rockets, with Games 3 and 4 moving to Houston on Saturday and Monday.

Westbrook has never missed a game in his five-season NBA career, playing in a possible 439 of 439 regular-season and playoff games. He averaged 23.2 points and 7.4 assists during the regular season and is averaging 24 points and seven assists in the two games against the Rockets.

Los Angeles Lakers forward Metta World Peace suffered a meniscus tear in his left knee last month and was initially projected to be sidelined for six months. He instead returned in less than two weeks after surgery.

Yea true but he was sitting out pretty much the end of the regular season and he's supposedly getting treatment for bone bruises on it now and might not play Sunday.

Saying Paul, Parker, or Curry are better than Westbrook is NOT saying "oh the Thunder would be much better without him and have Reggie Jackson running point".

All any Westbrook "detractor" has said on here is he's not the best PG in the west and he needs to learn to make better decisions offensively. NOBODY is saying OKC is somehow better without him completely.

Brooks better not start DFish :x

I'm sure Mr. October will get the start.

I'm not a fan of Russ but that was such a wack way to go down, I like Beverly's heart but that was a punk move by him. I know he didn't do it on purpose but there was honestly no reason for him going for the steal in the situation.

I know he's a freak but Metta came back a week after surgery on his meniscus so it's definitely possible for Russ to come back this year, then again he's a lot more valuable than Met is.

 at these "so and so to the Finals" now comments. Even if Westbrook did not get hurt, it was not a guarantee OKC would go to the Finals. The same can be said with him being hurt...OKC very well might get to the Finals without him.

Saying that....please advance to the 2nd round Memphis. Our defense would probably tear OKC apart without Westbrook.

I'm glad to see Russ is taking the long-term approach. I don't want him to rush back too soon and jeopardize his career.
