OFFICIAL NFL THREAD 2024-25: Week XVIII Saquon BRUH

Obviously things aren’t always the same.. but look at the rest of davis’ career after those titles
Ironically enough, he didn't actually tear his knee running the ball. Happened while he was making a tackle on a INT return which is pretty freakish.

That's all the more reason to go for it though imo :lol, RB shelf lives are finite and who knows if Saquon will ever come close to having a season like this again.

Getting a chance at a 40 year old record even if its just for 1 half of play is better than playing cautious and having that 'what if' for the rest of your life.

The whole sitting games out at the end of the season is a pretty new phenomenon just like 'load management' in the NBA and it's scary thinking imo.

There is nothing new about it, Peyton manning and the colts were doing it during that same timeframe

But eagles have been doing it for a while when they could, so I’m amazed the extent of the discussion knowing the team’s philosophy

Hell on an individual basis within a team guys not playing end of year games to avoid screwing up averages

Arguably the game of that season too, both teams were full strength and delivered a regular season classic :hat

Unless a player is already hampered/battling an injury, I don't have a problem letting them play to try to reach contract incentives or reach for career marks or historic numbers.

The Colts was resting players when was 13-2 a few times and always killed their momentum.

Those were injuries well after the fact that took a toll on Davis’s career.

The very next season he played 4 games, at 27

And then 5 after that.. and 8 in his final season

He had 417 touches in that 1998 season and 499 total inclusive of the playoffs

Rest of his career he had: 329 total

Yea I remember Caldwell getting flamed hard for it the year they had probably the best overall Colts squad under Peyton and they started out like 14-0.

He rested the starters and they went into the playoffs dropping b2b games as a result.

They were the best team in the league that year but they didn't win the Superbowl in the end.

The injury that took him out and derailed his career wasn’t even from rushing like rolaholic rolaholic said. Then at this point stop playing if you’re afraid of something happening. 🤷‍♂️

Eagles fans hate Sirianni I'm surprised to see he has any defenders of his decisions lmao

No one is defending him, it’s not his decision

But eagles rarely rarely play guys in meaningless games, inclusive of preseason games

How does that take away from the pride of blocking for a 2k yard rusher/potential record breaker?

Even more impressive doing it with injuries

Who said it takes away from anything.. saquon had an extremely impressive season

But I doubt anyone is that bothered about not playing when every starter on offense has missed games outside of 2 guys and you get a little bit of a break after a long season.. especially when outside of 2 guys, they’ve all been in the organization and know the philosophy

And even becton, one of the new guys, didn’t play in the preseason even though he technically was earning his starting spot

Hell I don’t even know if we’re getting goedert back for the playoffs at this rate

if they don't win the SB then it all be for nothin

Becton is our only starter on offense not under contract

And the only other guy who started a game on offense not under contract is a backup tackle Fred Johnson

not at least giving it a go is disrespectful to the game man.

Records are to be broken.

And now they put a target on their backs (media, fan wise) if they don’t win it all.

Hell, I could see us all here next week thrashing these dudes if they get bounced by the Packers.

No matter what decision gets made, people going play the results

And even if saquon did play and gets the record, people going say shh about that too depending on how things shake out.. people were already gearing up the 17th game argument

But I don’t get how it’s disrespectful.. if anything historically when guys have chased individual accolades/records in meaningless games/situations have gotten clowned

A bunch of sub .500 fans of teams saying what should have be done.

Focus on them draft boards fellas
