***Official Political Discussion Thread***

The reason I think think this both sides nonsense is so destructive is that is hides how off the rails conservatives have become. Modern conservativism is very dangerous. It took an already somewhat problematic ideology, took the absolute worst of it, and made it median of the movement. Then the media tells the public we should find middle ground with that.

A somewhat decent (or not complete trash) conservative would look nothing like what we see in today's GOP. The conservative right, that is driven by crony capitalism, white identity politics, religious fundamentalism, nativism, racism, hawkish foreign policy, scientific ignorance, sexism, cruelty, and general bigotry, is like three to four standard deviations away from reassembling anything reasonable.

And this is who DWalk supports.

a decent conservative should look like Joe Biden

the leftmost bound of the political spectrum in America begins at the true center of political ideology. our political discourse is warped so far to the right that Americans literally can't imagine a world in which Bernie Sanders isn't an extreme leftist because they don't even know what an extreme leftist looks like

and that was before the GOP went completely off the rails. today, anyone left of the tea party is considered a RINO. it's absolutely insane

First reference to a still ongoing investigation in the newly released 302s from the Mueller probe. Information Sam Patten provided or was asked about is redacted under the exemption B7A, meaning that it could harm an ongoing proceeding.
Patten was a Paul Manafort associate who also had a business relationship with Konstantin Kilimnik. After a Senate Intel criminal referral, Patten pleaded guilty to illegal foreign lobbying and illegal foreign contributions to the Trump Inaugural Committee via a straw donor scheme.

Seems related to Manafort and/or activities in Ukraine.

Second reference to an ongoing investigation was this Manafort 302. The complete redaction of large parts of multiple Manafort interviews suggest he is at the center of this investigation.

Edit: Those are all the references to ongoing investigations in the new release.

The people that try to play the whole both sides are the same bull**** just come across like they're trying to justify their support for Trump and the GOP. It's basically dwalk's main objective in here.

I am against voter suppression, no matter who is doing it (or how), period.

I said that already.

Do you think intent is a relevant inquiry? Or is impact the end of the discussion?
How do you determine what someone's intent is?

In order to prevent false narratives from defiling the divine image of the Supreme Leader, the Ministry of Truth has decided to take the following measure.

Dwalk is pretty transparent. Not sure why anyone even bothers woth him anymore. He is against a lot of **** that the gop and this admin does, but nothing is more important to him than $$$. So he will always vote for them no matter what they do if he thinks he can make a few extra bucks.
To be fair, he's already openly admitted that: https://niketalk.com/threads/official-political-discussion-thread.509493/post-32591597

Apparently he believes he can maintain some semblance of rectitude through a combination of milquetoast, rubber stamp rebukes and "both sides" nihilism.
That such strained, disingenuous efforts are now routine - let alone necessary - speaks volumes.

There's no virtue in raw selfishness, but there is at least some merit in honesty. If you're going to steal someone's lunch, admitting that you were motivated by hunger is far more respectable than claiming, "I did it to help you lose weight."

That's what kills me. I would appreciate the honesty of "I care about the money." Nothing about that requires you to make arguments defending the morality of all the other stuff that is being done. You could simply just admit, "yes, even though I support my party, I agree that politician X is a scumbag for what he/she did" and move on.

Yet we have people in here regularly defending Killary and her emails or Obummer and his tan suit. Just admit you only vote D because you want your socialism, welfare checks, and free health care and education, and that you don't care about your dear leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer making a mockery of the Constitution every single day. I could respect that.
