***Official Political Discussion Thread***

I will never understand the “Democrats take the black vote for granted”talking point from people that claim be politically conscious. Instead of organizing with and through the party that at the very least advocates for right to be civically represented and allows you the space to do so, you instead want to push people towards a party strategically denying black people the political system wholesale? I think it was Obama that said in the face of some criticism that he wasn’t doing enough for black peoples “Go out and make me do it”. In what way is the “party of personal responsibility” empowering black people to actively influence the polices they make? The common theme I’ve been seeing among black conservatives that I listen too and follow (and I’m not talking about grifter Black conservatives either like Candace owens) is that the RNC is going out of there way to NOT empower black conservatives that don’t fit their mold. Black conservatives struggling to get RNC resources out to black communities to actually pave paths within the black community.

this tweet is damn near a decade old and it’s a perfect descriptor of what black people mean to the RNC

SDNY has been interviewing Naftogaz executives in recent weeks. Giuliani denies involvement here but one of the executives made some public remarks about his SDNY interview.
When asked if he was preparing to testify about Giuliani or Parnas/Fruman, Andriy Kobolyev replied “Both. Everything is connected.”

it's some strange logic. Pubs barely make an effort to care about their economically anxious voters' needs

their time spent worrying about black voters is mostly limited to how to make their votes count less

it also sounds like some of the far left who would rather vote 3rd party or not vote instead of helping to enact changes they want to see within the Democratic Party

Had to unfriend someone in real life who continues to support trump.... was looking at articles on the subject of defriending in this era. I ran across this quote and thought it was powerful.

“Historians have a word for Germans who joined the Nazi party, not because they hated Jews, but because out of a hope for restored patriotism, or a sense of economic anxiety, or a hope to preserve their religious values, or dislike of their opponents, or raw political opportunism, or convenience, or ignorance, or greed.
That word is “Nazi.” Nobody cares about their motives anymore.
They joined what they joined. They lent their support and their moral approval. And, in so doing, they bound themselves to everything that came after. Who cares any more what particular knot they used in the binding?”

The only thing I’d challenge about this characterization Is that it paints Republicans as just not caring or apathetic about the black vote when everything their doing is active and deliberate. They’re choosing not to empower black conservatives, they’re choosing to roll back civil rights protections, they’re choosing to sUppress the black vote. All of those are very active parts of the platform and party.

I wasn't trying to suggest Republicans are apathetic to black voters, only that they're apathetic (in practice) to the rural white votes they need to get elected

"their time spent worrying about black voters is mostly limited to how to make their votes count less" - meaning racial gerrymandering and voter suppression

Oh in that case I agree.

If you are black and If you care about transforming the black community through political means, you’ve got to have an axe to grind with the Democratic Party’s leadership or be diametrically opposed to liberalism and socialistic policies. Like youve gotta a be a cut and dry capitalist conservative. Otherwise you’re living on another planet if you think republicans and the RNC are even slightly interested in using their platform to promote a black agenda outside of black people abamdoming the dem party. And they show that with RNC money

"I know how not to commit crimes."

Interesting choice of words.
I'd love to know what his lawyer has been thinking all this time.
Not the greatest idea to disparage and taunt the prosecutors investigating him.

It's clear that Rudy is a 'target' in the SDNY investigation. Given his close personal and financial relationship to other targets in the probe, Giuliani is absolutely someone they would want to talk to. Rudy has yet to hear anything from the prosecutors so they see him as a target, not a witness.

It's never a good thing to hear nothing from prosecutors when people around you are being interviewed and you're clearly someone they would normally interview as a witness.
I'm not saying Rudy will necessarily face an indictment but Roger Stone was in the same position. The first thing he heard from Mueller's prosecutors was his indictment.

There are 2 additional factors that point to Giuliani's desgination as a target. Subpoenas for documents included Giuliani's business, and those subpoenas were issued to other individuals.
The second additional factor is that one witness, a Naftogaz executive, has recently publicly stated that he was prepared to testify about both Parnas/Fruman and Giuliani.

Rudy is definitely a target I just thought it was crazy he was allowed to leave the country and I am assuming he’s come back to the states?

If he is overseas still I legit think he stays over there. He is smart enough to know that he is a target and they already have enough to put him away.

Michael Bloomberg says his White House campaign unknowingly used prison labor
5I5s8.png

Bloomberg, who last month entered the Democratic Party race to face Republican President Donald Trump in the November 2020 election, said the campaign had ended its relationship with a company that used prison labor for making phone calls.

"We do not support this practice and we are making sure our vendors more properly vet their subcontractors moving forward," Bloomberg said in a statement.

Bloomberg said the campaign learned of the ties to prison labor when a reporter called. The Intercept, a news website, was first to report the use of prison labor.

Ranked by Forbes as the eighth-richest American, Bloomberg has spent more on campaign ads in the last few weeks than his main Democratic rivals have all year.

He has so far failed to crack into the top tier of candidates in public opinion polls.

A Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll conducted on Dec. 18-19 showed about 5% of Democratic-leaning voters support the billionaire former mayor of New York. Recent polls show former Vice President Joe Biden, Senator Bernie Sanders and Senator Elizabeth Warren are the party's leading candidates.

I’ve got my sister who lives in Portland OR staying with us, she’s a lib. At dinner she was talking about how she feels bad driving a Jeep and wants to get an EV for the environment  I told her that China is the worst polluter in the world so we shouldn’t do **** for the environment until they do!
