***Official Political Discussion Thread***

It's as simple as this. If you are a Bernie supporter and are voting for Trump or not voting then you were never really a progressive in the first place and didn't really care that much about the issues you claimed that only Bernie can fix.
They're not true progressives. And they likely have the ability (or "privilege" as my friend dwalk31 dwalk31 would say) to withstand 4 more years of Trump.

They're also automatically lumped into the same category of everyone in 2016 who did not vote for Hillary. They're responsible for everything Trump does and they have the blood of this COVID disaster partially on their hands. Those who do the same in 2020 are even worse.

edit: If you're stuck at home with nothing to do, check out the alarming number of twitter accounts run by Russian bots that are putting out anti-Biden propaganda. Or they might be Bernie Bros. Hard to tell them apart these days.

I think its a combo of both. Every morning I wake up and some new Biden **** is trending on twitter then a bunch of Bernie Bros pick it up and start re-tweeting it.

really can’t make this shhh up

shes arguing that any universal health care would cause shortages and prioritize care/supplies to certain groups and make other groups expendable...sounds familiar 🤔

also every paragraph was divided by an ad that website is straight AIDS

I had a coworker try to argue one of his insane views from an article on this page. Told him if he believes this is true then please read the onion because it isn’t any more truthful. He got angry and didn’t talk to me for 3 days

I'm practicing socialist distancing, bub.

But thanks for the rec. I'm learning A LOT from this "Onion" thing you put me onto.

So far no one very famous has died after being infected. Once that happens I expect the panic to rise

sadly, that´s true...people don´t take it seriously until the TV is affected.

it´s funny to think that our current level of panic stems largely from a single NBA player making joke time.

...you gotta trade that dude, right? that´s way too many tangibles.

Yeah people are already forgetting that until the NBA shut down people were nervous but still going about there day to day.

It’s all just an indifferent number of deaths until someone widely recognizable dies.

Can someone provide me a convincing logical argument in favor of not voting for Biden if Bernie is not the democratic nominee? I'm having a difficult time finding one as I continue to read about Bernie supporters opting to either: not vote, vote for Trump, or vote third party.

I need some meaningful cogent thoughts.... please....

A lot of people do not vote, they feel (not entirely incorrectly) that this is all a game for affluent retirees, well paid office workers and business owners and that that electoral politics is not for them or about them. No matter who is office, you'll be poor or one bad break away from being poor.

For many non voters (though tragically, not enough), Bernie's campaign was the exception to the rule and they voted in the primary and unless Bernie makes a huge comeback and is on the ballot, many of those Sanders voters will revert to their status as non voters.

I largely agree with the above but I still see voting as harm reduction in the face of a capitalist systems that sees most of us as disposable. No matter who is president, the struggle to overcome capitalism runs through organizing and direct action. A Sanders Presidency would have been a tremendous ally but those of us on the left, know that we were going to spend the 2020's fighting no matter what.

Honestly dont think it'll take a celeb. Let this hit the Rust Belt and parts of the South hard and tunes will change
