Also to keep Dawson & Brown...

I wonder if they will start negotiating with Aldon & Kap this spring or just chance it and wait until they play out the rookie contract

I would think they would have some sort of leverage with Aldon given his off field issues.

Would be nice to see Kap signed long term sooner rather then later though just to have the long term qb locked in for a while.

i wonder if the niners throw a conservative contract at him, if his agent waits it out until the off season. there are a good number of teams that probably want kaep, including the raiders. im sure these teams would send him tempting offers

I doubt Aldon stays, that boy is gonna get PAID. Best player on D during the playoffs IMO. Guy was playing on another level :x

Mario... BYE BYE

*bookmarked*

I won't be completely over the loss till I watch the tape word to Mike Singletary so I'll be back tomorrow.

They've shown a commitment to aldon. Teams not most but some would have released him for the off the field behavior.

Heres to a great year.

Carlos is gonner, how he gets 8 mil is beyond me.

I believe boldin and hitner wont try and break the bank. They are older and they know
What they have here. Niners must resign them both

man cant get into offseason mode yet.

aldon aint going nowhere. you dont just let an elite pass rusher get away. worst comes to worst he would get franchise tagged after next year.

i would keep boldin over whitner, re-sign phil dawson/kassim osgood(special teamer) and cut rogers. everyone else can walk.

baalke is going to have 13 picks so he'll have plenty of ammunition to reload the roster. would like to see a strong safety and cornerback drafted with some of our higher picks but obviously always BPA.

good to see lawrence okoye sticking around. dude is a genetic freak and could be a force if he learns the game under a coach like jim tomsula(hopefully sticks around).

we still have yet to see marcus lattimore, tank carradine and quinton dial(only played a few snaps) on the field so we got a lot to look forward to next year.

Hitner played well but I wouldn't be against letting him walk if he wants too much. regardless a S is needed from the draft. I'd like to see Brown and Boldin back but Brown is the more expendable of the two. Carlos can't come back.

do the niners have any players with expensive non-expiring contracts who dont do **** for the team? word to andris biedrins...i know rogers and manningham are probably gonna be cut

btw, anyone know what happened to jecca?? did our dude get banned in the nfcc thread?

Players I want to see back:

Anquan Boldin

Phil Dawson

Tarrel Brown

Anthony Dixon

Kassim Osgood

Players I want gone:

Carlos Rogers

LaMichael James

Mario Manningham

Jonathan Goodwin

Players I am indifferent about re-signing:

Donte Whitner

Eric Wright

On the first list, I think Osgood and Dixon will not both  be back.  But I would like them both back.  They were standout players on our special teams, and our season ending losses last year and this year had a huge special teams play go the other way.  We need to solidify this aspect of our team.  Keeping those two guys help that.  Boldin and Dawson do not require an explanation.  Brown is better and cheaper than Rogers, so Id like us to bring him back.  Dont think he will require a huge pay day either.

I know LMJ seems to be a fan favorite around NT, but I want him cut.  He is absolutely useless.  He is not a good running back at this level, and he is a liability in the return game.  He doesnt catch punts well, and he is too slow....yes I said it.....too slow to be our return man.  When is the last time we had a punt/kick returner that struck fear in the other team?  When have we had a guy where we legitimately thought we had a chance for a return touchdown everytime he touched the ball?

Jonathan Goodwin is ok.  But if you look at coaches film, a large majority of the time that our run play doesnt work is because a defender blows right by Goodwin.  I wouldnt be upset if he is back, but I want an upgrade.  Rogers goes without saying.  Not even counting his absurd salary....I feel like his production would be very easy to replace.  Manningham I feel the same way about.  His production would be easy to replace, and think we already have his replacement in Patton.  Whitner is a tough one.  I like him.  I would like to see him back.  But I definitely see him as a cap casualty.  If we can make it work, great.  I just dont think he is a priority.

And with all this being said, we have extensions looming for Kaepernick, Crabtree, Iupati and Aldon.  We can't shoot our load this offseason because we have these 4 to worry about shortly there after.  Kap will require a huge raise, and Crabtree should be in line for a nice bump as well.  As terrible as it is to say, I think Aldon's off field issues could be a blessing for our team....as it may be easier to re-sign him.  As crazy as it may sound to say this, but I think Iupati would be the casualty of the 4 if we dont have money for all.  PFF graded him very low this year, in spite of his Pro Bowl selection.

Anyway, should be an interesting offseason to say the least.

Pretty sure Rogers is the only one with a huge contract that will probably be cut. We wouldnt need to cut Manningham, he is no longer under contract.

(By the way, sportrac is a PHENOMENAL website.  Really good source of information when you want to know about contracts for any professional team.)

I dont think he should be the returner period, he was better last year when hunter got hurt and they were forced to use him. The coaches need to find better ways to get him involved in the offense

Hopefully he's hitting the books about football and not so much into hitting the weights this off season.

LMJ - Dont see nothing wrong with him as a returner, hes had some decent returns and a good replacement for Ginn. Just sometimes worry about a fumble, like the one that almost happened on sunday.

Iupati - He can walk, I think hes over rated and a G position is certainly not where we want to spend our very limited FA money. I think Boone is a better G than him. Not very good pass protection and always seems to get hurt. I had no worries that Snyder came in for him when he got injured

That worries me the most that he will never be that same player!!!......he goes so hard on every play and his game is so intense, sucks he had suffered this major injury, i think as long as his knee holds up and he gets that mentality part back that he can trust it and push it like it never was injured he should be fine!!!!

Nice to hear about the camaraderie him and Willis have. Those dudes are like brothers, if you watch their E:60 specials I can see why they're so close. Willis said he will be with Bow every step of the way this offseason :hat

Kaps a gamer, seems like a gym rat and someone who takes his craft very seriously. Not to mention he finally got a full year under his belt and is going to be in a contract year, dude will be ready. He's been to two NFCC games and a Super Bowl in his first 2 years :eek :hat... he absolutely needs to work on his touch that's for sure. We all know he has maybe the strongest arm in the league. Kap will be fine.

I'm more worried about keeping our coaching staff in place as well as re-signing key guys. I agree that Carlos HAS to go, I honestly dont think hes a terrible player but he's getting paid like an elite corner and we just can't afford that. Gore seems like the type of guy that would restructure his deal, always has been a team first guy and endured all of those awful years we had before Harbaugh and co arrived.

Boldin and Osgood both NEED to be re-signed (Brown as well assuming we cut Los). Since we have so many draft picks again and not many available active roster spots I'd love if we traded up and got a guy like Kelvim Benjamin or even Mike Evans. Anyone know what the DB talent is looking like this draft?
