Not Mike, but I've never seen this pic of Chuck wearing CG XI's. :nthat:

Sir Charles...One of the best to ever do it...

Kind of on the subject of Mr. Barkley, a lot of younger sneaker heads don’t realize that when Mike retired for the first time his shoe line kind of went through the floor...The retro run Nike did was a failure and they specifically told Tinker to leave the line alone...They were going to let it die out...Tinker took it upon himself to work on the X and XI without the approval of his higher up’s...

Around this time is when ol’ Chuck’s line started to really take off simply because he was an active player...Fairly unbelievable but at the time kids didn’t want a signature shoe for an athlete that wasn’t actually playing, be it Michael Jordan or anybody else...

Crazy twist to this story is that Chuck's signature shoes didn't last but a few models and he ends up playing a few games in XIV's and XII's in his final years as a Rocket.

Sorry if already asked before. Did MJ ever wear the XI IE lows in a game? And if so what colorways?

You're kind of right. The retros were a little nerdy to see on kid's feet in school, but the 9s were still as popular as the cb. But it was either the barkleys or the jordans. Wasnt much else in that regard besides Shaqs I guess. Maybe Reignmans? lol

Yes he did, in the 1996 Eastern conference semi finals he broke them out ... had arguably his best playoff game in them too besides game 4 of the ECF and game 3 of the Finals ...

Game 3 in New York the Knicks were being ultra physical and Oakley was punking and intimidating MJ’s supporting cast. Pippen was putrid offensively as he typically was in the second three peat.

Jordan dropped 46 in the IE low, embarrassed Bonner hard core on a pump fake post up pivot move, broke his ankles really ... check out the highlights. Oh and he hit a major clutch 3 to put the game into OT. Bulls just couldn’t hang on, no production from anyone else.

But this notion that Kobe, or even Arenas started the low top basketball shoe trend is absolutely ridiculous. Mike wore lows in the playoffs with the II’s, XI’s, and XIII’s. Well before either of those guys did. He was always trying to be quicker especially in the playoffs after a season full of wear and tear.

Wore the XI IE low quite a few times that playoffs until he rolled his ankle game 3 vs Orlando and went back to the mids. But did break out some lows in the Finals with patent leather and not the IE though.

Still waiting on a proper retro of the playoff XI IE low.

MJ debuted the XI IE low in game 1 against the Knicks that year. Going into the series with back spasms resulting from Game 2 against the Heat in the 1st round. He ended up dropping 44 I believe.
Correct.

I remember they released that weekend the series started too.

Walked into finish line, and it’s funny now with always knowing sneaker releases so far in advance but walking in and then being like “damn what are those?!” and immediately got a pair of the Breds.

Then eventually the white elephant print ones for summer wear.
