Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Some of my favorite foot chase scenes not ranked, but point break is the best.

1. memento. “Okay what am I doing here? Oh I’m chasing this guy.........no....he’s chasing me!”

2. yeah, the casino royale parkour towards the beginning

3. Point break Johnny Utah vs Bhodi. gunfight through the streets, through apartments, gas station pump turned into flamethrower, Utah firing his gun through the air going “ahhhhhhhh”

which leads me to....

4. hot fuzz and the shoplifter chase scene. Just a hilarious nod to buddy cop action films.

5. No country for old men. Brolin running from that pit Bull, even getting chased through the river was nuts.

honorable mention: not sure if it’s a chase scene or more of just a fight scene but Joseph Gordon Levit running through the spinning gravity-shifting room in inception. Feels more chase-y than fight-y. Gun falls in his hand just in time to let off a shot in dudes chest just as gravity comes back and dude thuds across the floor

If your a fan of Stand-up "The Comedy Store" documentary series on Showtime is fire. First episode covered the early years and how the Store came to be and early comics...Letterman, Leno, Pryor, Freddie Prinze and the importance of Carson. The Interviews and stories are dope. Every comic is on this doc.

Didn't know there was a doc, I know they had the show based on it "I'm Dying up here"

Queen & Slim 3.5/8 - I didn't hate it but it was overly long and a lot of the 2nd half of the movie felt rushed/pointless.

American Pie: Girl's Rule 3/8 - Some decent laughs in the beginning but once they make "the pact" it falls apart.

Hubie Halloween 3/8 - Adam Sandler gotta stop with these bad impressions man... shoutout to June Squibb's thrift shop shirt game.

You guys gotta checkout this podcast if you get a chance. I drive like 70 miles everyday at work so I crank them out. But yeah this is like listening to this thread for an hour. Dope episodes. The Wes Anderson one is insane, I learned so much. Also the “best horror movies from 2010-2020 was lit as well and reminded me of the movie draft we had.

I think they make videos of their podcasts and out em on YouTube as well. They’ve only been making episodes for a couple months Now And I can already see them having multiple millions of followers soon.

Convinced my girlfriend to watch Midsommar yesterday with me in the spirit of Halloween. I dont think she hated it. Certainly paused and walked away, and had to watch in two sittings. But all in all, other than the shockingly gory faces that she had STRONG reactions to, she had a wtf face and the kind of look where you cant stop watching in awe of what you're seeing. Was rooting for Mark and Christian to die almost immediately after the move started

She didnt hate the ending either, which I expected her to with the abruptness. I think my explaining that Aster called it a fairytale and my gf putting it as "she finally found her family!" helped wash it all down.

Next up, peer pressuring into Hereditary....

Man, I was happy for Dani and how Christian's b.a. got dealt with  Pretty sure my live posting in here when I watched for the first time was asking for all them **** to die by the time they were in Sweden.

Christian might have been a selfish ******* and terrible boyfriend but..

He didn’t deserve to get drugged, raped, and murdered

The House of the Devil - 5.5/8

Maybe the slowest burn ever for a film that’s shorter than a 100 minutes. The last 20 or so minutes are great but man, you just kind of wished the pay off happened a little bit sooner. Came out in 2009 but with how they filmed it, it definitely felt like a horror movie straight from the early 80s. I just absolutely love that 16mm film look and how they did the opening and closing credits.

Of course, no one really deserved what happened to them. But then it's not a horror movie about a wildly ****ed up cult. It was entirely depressing and even when I say I was happy for Dani at the end, she still has her entire life stolen and her reality distorted through continuous trauma and drugging. It's disheartening and Ari did a great job following up one thoroughly depressing film with this equally depressing film.
