I swore there was a thread about this recently but I couldn't find it.

But yea man, I am literally hooked on this great treat. No I am not an Islander (

What can I season them with besides salt and pepper?

I cooked them in CoConut Oil, is that what you Island folk do?

No season needed. The more ripe the sweeter. My grandmother
used to keep them til they looked spoiled then fried them up. 1
of my fave foods, can eat a whole plate straight up, or sandwiched
in between 2 pieces of hard-dough bread & butter

I prefer mine light green. I don't like dealing with them when they are yellow because they are so soft and sticky (No Romo). I don't need that much sweetness.

Hard dough bread and butter? I can just eat them by themselves. Almost ate 3 of them just now.

Platanos frito*

I wait til they are very ripe and fry em up. I make a sandwhich with a frenh bagette, queso fresco, frijoles frito, and platano frito.

I'm Salvadorian BTW.

Who seasons them? Eat them as they are when they finish frying. Delicious.

As Spike said, the riper the sweeter.

DC, I use regular Wesson cooking oil. Never used coconut oil.
