Are you in the market for custom wheels? Other than wheel size, style and price, you may want to research how your new wheels are made. Buying new wheels can be a significant investment and you want to be sure to get your money's worth before spending your hard earned cash.

Consider Use: Vehicle demands, road conditions and driving style are all important considerations. If you are driving a sports car such as a Porsche, Corvette or BMW and enjoy track days from time-to-time, you may need a lighter/stronger wheel.

Construction Methods:  The reality is that not all aluminum wheels are created equally. Strength and weight of a wheel are partly determined by how a wheel is made, not only the material it is made of. The three primary methods of O.E. and aftermarket wheel construction are gravity cast, pressure cast and forged.

Gravity Cast: Gravity casting is the most common and least expensive wheel manufacturing process. This is the process of pouring molten aluminum into a mold using only gravity to assist. This results in the heaviest and weakest of the manufacturing methods. 

Pressure Cast: Pressure casting is the process of introducing positive pressure to assist in the flow of molten aluminum through the mold. This creates a lighter/stronger product due to higher density than gravity cast at a minimum cost increase.

Forged:  Forging is the process of forcing a semi-solid piece of aluminum between the forging dies under extreme pressure. This produces the lightest and strongest product of the three primary methods. Most of the 2- and 3-piece custom wheels and race wheels in the market are forged. The downside is that due to the extensive tooling required to create a finished wheel, forged wheels are considerably more expensive than either pressure or gravity cast. 
 
Bottom Line: I have spoken to many customers who wish they would have invested in a higher quality product after bad experiences with lower quality ones. The key to making an informed choice is to understand the advantages of each. To ensure you are getting the best product for your needs, consult a sales specialists to find out how the wheel you are interested in is constructed. ​

As for vossen they're lensos made out of cheap material in Asia . They originally sell for 600-700 cause the material is BUNS. but vossen buys em stamp they're name and boom 2k set of wheels. I would NOT buy em :smh: :x

There are nicer replica wheels out there, the LM style is the most copied one out there. I would get some Varrstoens if I was gonna go for that look and not get the real thing.

XXR is at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to reps. In my opinion your tires should never cost more then your wheels....
 
I am planning on purchasing a 2013 Ford fusion titanium hybrid next month, cash. I'm thinking either Veterans day or Thanksgiving weekend (Which is better?), what would be the best price/offer should I make if it's all cash?? Msrp:$31,895.
 
hate fake wheels. and IMO a cheap knockoff wheel is a downgrade.  especially when people put them on cars that came stock with BBS' or some other decent wheel.  like STI's, BMWs, etc.
 
Which brand does the xxr 530 copy?
I personally dnt pay more for tires but I see what youre saying.

They all copy the BBS LMs. If you buy XXRs they will most likely be cheaper then your tires. Unless your buying like 195s or something. I saw a site where you could get them for like $130 a wheel which is just stupid.

I 100% agree on wheels being a downgrade on cars like STI and BMW. Hence why I went with Works

BBS LM's are beautiful, timeless wheels.  I am however in love with CCW's LM20 and Classic.  I have Work Meister 2 piece S1R's on my NSX right now, but am looking to switch them out for either the LM20's or Classic's what do you guys think?

i absolutely love LM20's.  i was SO CLOSE to ordering a set of 18x9.5 CCW LM20's in Candy Teal for my Evo before i found my Volks

Man, I wanted the 3-piece Meister's so bad, but they couldn't do a 17 inch for the front for my NSX so I had to settle for the 2-piece.  I like them but I am falling for CCW's.

Yeah that looks :smokin: but there's just something about those LM20s to me. VSXX are another option that would look sick. Rotiform makes some awesome wheels too, I almost had them make some for me before I found my Works. Their 24k gold is tough boy

One of my friends just got some XXR's on his RSX. When he told me they were XXR's I was like dafaq are those since I've never heard of them. Think he dropped around 500 for the set. Pretty cheap so who know's how long they'll last.

The purple lugnuts are a nice touch though

i vote LM20 for sure. i think white LM20s with polished lip would look so nice on your Red NSX.
Wow dude, I am just trying to picture that setup in my mind and I think it would be incredible!  I have been admiring the white wheel on red NSX setup for some time.  Here are a couple I am admiring with the white wheel/ red nsx combo:

Such a nice, classy contrast to this car.
 
^Ya you should do it dude. not sure ive seen a white set of LM20's. and i think the fat polished lip would make your car look WAY better than both those you just posted

Oh my, those white LM20's with the polished lip...wow, speechless right now.  I think the major advantage to the LM20 over the Classic is that I could go with a deeper stepped lip for the LM20.  Thanks guys for the great ideas!  Will post it up when I get them

here ya go. wrong car, wrong CCW, and stupid fitment, but you can get the idea of how a white rim with polished lip looks on a red car.

my friend and i finally finished putting my new, yellow calipers on the car. took 4 hours to do the first one :smh: . once we figured that one out, we did the last 3 in about an hour and a half. pain in the ***, but better than spending the $600 i was quoted by shops in the area to do it.

we got stuck trying to flush the brake fluid though. just figured out we got a VACUUM bleeder kit instead of a pressure bleeder. car is stuck at his house right now as the brakes aren't working at all right now. couldn't even press the brake to shift the car into neutral and move it into his garage so i could store it there til we figured out what the hell we were doing. hopefully we can finish up tomorrow though now that we know what we're doing. bought some cheap, new wheels (19" forgestar cf10's). after they're put on, i'm pretty much DONE doing anything else to this car. first car i ever bought and did any work on and literally every single thing i've done has been a pain in the *** with a huge learning curve.




never was a fan of those style of wheels ^. the BBS F1 is my favorite wheel right now. wish they made it for my car, but they don't. even if they did....i'm not ballin enough to spend $8k+ on wheels. forgestars were only $1600 and i'm just going to sell my OEM C63 wheels since i won't have any use for them. won't break even since tires were almost another $1k, but might be able to get like $1400 for them.

Man, you guys are the best.  I was set on a polished set of Classic's before tonight, but I already have a polished set of Meister's that I can go back to if I want a more conservative look.  The white in contrast to the red just looks so unique, one of the reasons I love NT, so many creative people on here!
